Ok. Surely if he was being consistent he would call van Persie - Robin if he is calling Mertesacker Per?
Not sure, just called him by his first name for some reason at that moment. If you where consistent with your insistence on proper grammar then you would not have said 'right' when you meant 'write' on that other thread this week. Anyway i do not want you to change the topic in a thread again, so this will be my last comment to you.
I guess its not far off us calling Sandro Ranieri Guimarães Cordeiro "Sandro" I suppose. Might be why the Diarra deal fell through. 'Arry didn't want him to have "Lass" on the back of his shirt.
Get a life Ensil, as Spurs fans we often call players by different parts/combinations of their name, for example VdV, BAE, Hudd, you never complain about that. I love how you made a glaring error in this post when you were trying to criticise someone's writing style.
As good as Fabregas was, he patently had to go. If you had given yourselves more time to find a replacement, I think you would be better set, but the same argument can be used against us with the Modric saga, (who knows what player we get for the rest of the season right now?) Truth be told, both lots of Mancs, the Scousers and to a lesser extent Chelski all outflanked Spurs and Arsenal in the transfer window. I just hope we have got enough to get in amongst it and take some points from them.
How do you measure guts and desire? Well both Cesc and Nasri didn't have any left for Arsenal in the end, so as good as they are, they had to go. Arteta and Benayoun both want to play for Arsenal, so that's immediately an improvement. I can't help laugh at the comment that Mertesacker lacks guts, desire and is a 'panic buy'. 26 years old, a proven international with 75 caps for Germany. Bags of Champions League experience. and secured for £9m. You spurs boys would cut off your right arm to have him in your team. Already Gervinho looks like he's busting a gut to win for Arsenal. Along with Frimpong, a resurgent Rosicky, back to fitness Vermaelen, RVP and Walcott, a proper international LB, a settled keeper and a new striker. Plus we now have several international team captains now in the team. We've strengthened right through the squad from CB, LB, MF and CF. Guts and Desire? I think we've got more this season than we've had for the last 3 or 4
I certainly didn't rate Mertesacker from what I saw of him against us. Vermaelen - back to fitness?? That's just a little premature. You mean he's fit THIS week. How the others settle in - only time will tell. Frimpong, in particular, looks like he hasn't received his last Red Card of the season, by any means.
To be perfectly honest Spurs have the weakest of the three squads. It's very even though, it's going to be a tight season. Arsenal and Liverpool have more fire-power, both Liverpool and Spurs arguably have a better midfield unit than Arsenal and defensively none of us have been great so far, but Liverpool and Arsenal (with new signings) might shade it. Dawson and King are far too inconsistent and BAE is talented but sometimes error prone. Corluka I like. Friedel is a big improvement too. Why did you let Hutton go out?
You're one of those people that think loads of new signings equal success. Have you ever seen Hutton play? He's absolutely ****e and i'm glad he isn't no longer linked to Spurs.
Who out of the rest will finish above us? I assume 5 out of the 7 are Man Utd, City, Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool. Who are the other 2 teams?
Oh look, it's the Liverpool fans sticking their noses in to tell us how we can't match their impressive squad Thanks but if we wanted your opinons we'd ask for them
I genuinely want to know who he thinks will finish above us and would love to hear his reasons why as well.
Oh look! Yet another deluded scouse who thinks that just because they've luckily beaten a 10 man, demoralised, Arsenal team; that now, the sainted King Kenny has returned from the heavens to lead them to their "rightful" place as the Premiership's chosen team. Isn't such blind faith inspiring - or possibly - just blind!!
Unfortunately I have watched Rosicky this season. I just can't see anything outstanding about him. Don't tell me he's a team player either, or that he carries some incredible attitude - he didn't even turn round to see if Rooney had scored last weekend. And no, KingHotspur, I do not think lots of signings equate to success. At least not every time. Sometimes they do - look at City over the past few years. They've signed their way from zero to Champion's League. Sometimes they don't - look at Sunderland right now, where Bruce's signings are yet to settle. Thanks for assuming I'm an idiot because I support a rival team though. I just don't hold the opinion that Spurs have strengthened significantly. A lot hangs on the form of Adebayor and your defence - which is shaky at the best of times. Depending on Arsenal's form Spurs could finish anywhere from 5th-7th in my books. Liverpool and Arsenal are fighting it out for 4th and 5th all season - both sides have a wealth of experience (of successful Champion's League qualification) that Spurs just don't have - you've only qualified once.
