Helicopters have a very, very poor safety record compared to fixed wing aircraft.

Helicopters used by the emergency services and the military are probably among the most carefully and constantly maintained machines in the world. Just to stop them falling out of the sky all the time. A private helicopter is little more than a rich man's suicide option.

You wouldn't get me within a mile of one. Even if I do win the lottery.
Knowing my luck one will fall on me.

I used to travel to Scilly in one, and it scared the sh1t outof me. My brother-in-law was a helicopter engineer and thought they were very safe, reassured me but only slightly.

RIP Nicholas Parsons, 96. Died with his boots on, so to speak. Just a Minute will never be the same. I love that show, Parsons was just as bright as ever in the last series.

RIP Kirk Douglas, 103. After being interviewed at a youthful 100, he asked the interviewer to come back when he was 200, but sadly he didn't make it.
