Nice result for the each-way thieves – like Ron! That Cougar Mountain saw some sustained support on the track.

I have to say it was bitterly disappointing for the Eastern Powerhouse. Travelled 8000 miles and lost the race before the stalls even opened. Able Friend was on his toes in the parade ring and got very sweated up on the way to the post. Anybody that backed him after seeing him walking around at the post deserved to lose their money.

Maxime Guyon got his tactics spot on with Solow. He sat just behind the leader because he knew that Able Friend is usually brought late with his turn of foot so he wanted to get first run on him. Sadly he never threw down a challenge and it was left to Esoterique to complete a French one-two.

Absolutely no surprise that the Lockinge form turned out to be useless. A blanket could have covered the first four at Newbury so punters thinking that Night Of Thunder was an each-way bet to nothing got their fingers burned.
