Miliband has done himself no favours with the 'Ed at home, meet the family' interview on BBC news. His family look delightful, but he is cringe-making in the extreme, claiming to be able to 'look after himself' to the extent that he wasn't bullied at school........even now, dump him, Balls and Unumma get Johnson in they would win by a mile.

Johnson is the only credible option they have but the trade Unions must hate him.

Pretty sure that if these results repeated themselves on the big day, we'd have a hung parliament. I hope Cameron knows which pub to call to get hold of Nigel!

With Ed Balls latest fairy story Labour's already fragile credibility is fast evaporating. The only hope they have is a deal with the Jocks and that real possibility will surely scupper their chances. I'm beginning to think the Tories might just squeeze home more because Labour are such a bunch of tossers...

It's clear that Ed Milliband is keeping his powder dry on the subject of an SNP coalition or some sort of joint venture post-election. There a big implications if he went that route both for the labour party (that would face a rebellion from its party in Scotland) and the country, since the fishy couple (Salmon and Sturgeon) are only out to feather Scottish nests (sorry for the mixed metaphor) still further at the expense of England, particularly London and the South. If this brings about huge resentment in England, this too plays into the tartan fishes' fin-like hands.

Looks like the Tories have pinched a couple of UKIP votes in the QPR Not606 Poll of Polls.

By current numbers above, in order for the Tories to lose power, there would need to be a coalition of every other named party (so a Labour/UKIP/SNP/Green/LibDem alliance) which would implode in a Westminster bloodbath - quite literally - within a week.

That's the kind of thing you'll get from the televised debates if they go it alone. I'm selling tickets on eBay...

Everyone that says Tory supports cruelty to animals, as they plan to bring back bloodsports like foxhunting after the election.

I seriously hope that this election won't be decided on single issues. Nobody talks about anything except immigration with UKIP. Nobody talks about anything except the environment with the Greens. Nobody talks about anything except another referendum with the SNP. At least the three major parties talk about a range of stuff (even though Milliband and Balls don't understand what they are saying from one day to the next).

As for foxhunting? I strongly suspect that was banned by city people that had zero experience of the thing. I know nothing about foxhunting, so won't offer an opinion when asked for one, and wouldn't vote when I am ignorant of the issue.

They will allow a free vote, which is not quite the same thing. I have no great love for foxes, and numbers do need to be controlled, but I wouldn't want to see hunting them back. And as for hare coursing, it fulfills no rural or urban need and imo only a latent sociopath could get any enjoyment out of it.

Any minds changed by the Budget? I thought it was pretty bland stuff, more struck, once again, by the ineptness of Miliband's response and the fact that Balls could not name a single measure in it he would reverse when pressed on the Today programme.

Labour ruling out a coalition with the SNP does not of course exclude a 'deal' like the Lib-Lab pact of the 70's to keep a minority government in power. In many ways this could be worse for those who don't like the idea of Scottish influence, because they will have to bargain on every single issue/vote rather than work within the broader framework and responsibilities of coalition government.

I don't think the budget will have changed many minds.

One forecast of the outcome is as follows:

    Conservatives 284
    Labour 279
    SNP 39
    Liberal Democrats 25
    DUP 9
    Plaid Cymru 2
    SDLP 2
    UKIP 1
    Greens 1
    Other 8

With these results, another Tory-led coalition would be highly unlikely and a minority Tory government wouldn't last long against combined Labour/SNP opposition, so a minority Labour government informally backed by SNP and some LibDems would be the most likely scenario. I quite like the idea of SNP pushing the timid Labour leadership leftwards a bit.

It's beginning to get clearer though.

LibDems will jump into bed with whoever will offer them a seat at the top table - at any level.
Labour are being pulled around both by the Unions and by the SNP, both of whom would hold the real power in the event of a minority / coalition goverment including Labour.
UKIP support appears to have stagnated - there's the 'mouthy activists' that make plenty of noise, but very little movement either way and certainly they don't appear to be growing their support.
Tories are offering 'more of the same' which is either going to energise the support (if the stats are to be trusted) or firm up anti-tory feeling (if that's primarily what determines your vote)
Greens will make some noise but be lucky to retain their only MP - although Brighton is their best bet by far.

I only hope people vote on issues and on principles rather than on knee-jerk soundbytes and prejudices.

That's Johnson, the QPR fan. Agree, best available alternative candidate imo, given that the best candidate was stabbed in the back by brother Ed and has left for America

Ed Milliband's looked dead meat ever since the unions elected him

SNP's two interests are the best deal for the Scots (at whatever cost to the rest of the UK) and independence for Scotland. If Milliband deals with them to get power, he'll go down in England as the most unpopular PM in history.

Nicola Sturgeon seems to be the focus this week, getting a very easy ride from the BBC. Still open season on the Kippers, with this new expenses fraud stuff. I reckon if you dug around you would find someone in every party who's doing this, but I'm all for anything that makes the Kippers look bad.

Do any of you members live in Salisbury? If yes then they have some very interesting independent candidates...
