Did the ego allow Miliband to get a word in edge ways?

Brand is a waste of oxygen, and is a walking advert for involuntary euthanasia. If he backs Milliband, it could be just the edge the Tories are looking for.

Brand is the worst kind of champagne socialist. He was crap as a 'comedian', couldn't act, and now he's trying to be some kind of 'social conscience' when gala receptions and foreign holidays allow him the time. Are you seriously trying to tell me we should listen to what he says?

I have been looking at this election thing for a while now. Here are my thoughts:

    1. The Lib Dems are nailed on for relegation.
    2. UKIP might get enough points to get into Europe - but won't take up the place.
    3. Labour are thinking of allowing the Scottish league to join with the English league.
    4. The SNP are thinking of allowing the English league to join the Scottish league.
    5. The Tories like the idea of playing in Europe but only if they can change the rules.
    6. The Greens want to ban all synthetic pitches.
    7. Plaid Cymru don't want to be linked with England but still want Swansea to remain in the Premiership and Cardiff in the Championship.
    8. Labour say we can have as many foreign players as we like. The Tories say they will vet the players before they enter the country. UKIP want to ban all foreign players except half a dozen really, really good ones.
    9. Russell Brand is an @rsehole.

    Think that covers it.

I think we should listen to everyone, Chaz, and then make up our minds. I don't agree with Brand about not voting, but I do agree with a lot of what he has to say.

I do enjoy the reaction that even a mention of his name gets on here.

You mean he spends his days on reception, answering phone calls and filing his nails?

When Brand talks about the multi-national companies like Amazon paying derisory tax here, it does resonate, and I could see that it would with the younger voter who's having to saddle him or herself with loans to get through college. So if he beats that drum, fair enough.

The big problem I have with him is that he won't take responsibility. He won't vote, advises other not to vote, criticizes Blair, Clinton and Obama as complete failures (and don't even get him started on to the Tories) but won't do a thing to change it. He won't stand for Parliament, because he feels he'll be tainted. He lives in luxury, counts his millions and espouses apathatic anarchy. That devalues democracy almost as much as crooked MP's imho.

Russell, you're high profile - if you're that discontented, get off your fc uking arse and do something about it

Interesting interview by Peter Allen, one of the decent presenters on BBC five live, with a detective that had historically been looking into the Greville Janner MP case. After finding some early and persuasive evidence that Janner had been abusing boys, the police were given permission to make an appointment with the MP to come to the police station and answer questions. He turned up with one of the country's top criminal solicitors and answered "no comment" or the equivalent, to every question put to him.

Later that year, the detective was surprised to receive a Xmas card from Janner (surprised, because the detective's details were strictly ex-directory and not available to the public). The message on the card read - I thought you dealt with me very fairly at the police station. If you would like to get in contact, I would be delighted to buy you and your wife lunch. The detective never replied to the card.

Please choose one of the following options:

    1. Election - Ed Miliband - Russell Brand interview - complaints of power and corruption - Greville Janner MP

    2. Fc uk all, but as you say, it's a slow week!

P.S. am not making a party political point. Sadly this problem affects all three main parties

What would actually happen if nobody voted ? Presumably the politicians would all vote for themselves which means all constituencies would be drawn and therefore (so I am informed) decided by the toss of a coin. Either that or we would have no Prime Minister (because he had no support) - the Parliamentary system would be so discredited that we might go back to pre 1649 conditions and absolute monarchy !

Too late, they've just signed a cooperation pact with those filthy capitalists in America. So it's a one way ticket to Pyongyang then...
