I did not watch this but sadly it does not surprise me in the slightest coming from the so called politically impartial BBC.

Memories of Jim Naughtie, BBC 4 Today (former chief politico in The Guardian) interviewing Ed Balls in 2005:

Asks Jim - "If we win the election, Ed, will Gordon Brown remain chancellor?"

This is the same Jim that went on to refer to mild mannered Tory Minister Jeremy Hunt as Jeremy C*nt. Subliminal or what?

The media in general is capitalist, right wing by it's very nature. Glad to hear you find exceptions, they are rare.

Might it be something to do with Auntie being a publicly funded organisation?

Yes, the BBC and NRK which is similar her in Norway, have usually generally followed the government line, or at least a moderate Centre view. But they are both only a small proportion, if significant ones in their often relative sanity, in relation to the mostly capitalist, right wing, advertisement, sensation, scoop driven media branch.

Whatever happens come what may I think we will have some sort of coalition again. It looks like there will be no outright winner unless there is a very quiet silent majority that the polls have not picked up on.

    Don't shoot the messenger...

100 business chiefs: Labour threatens Britain's recovery
In a letter to The Telegraph, senior executives from companies employing more than half-a-million people hail Conservative economic policies which they say show that “the UK is open for business”

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/pol...ritains-recovery-say-100-business-chiefs.html

A bit of a kick in the nads for Ed Balls (pun intended)

So QPR fans, at least the Not606 variety, largely rightist.

    Oh well, mustn't grumble.

Just changed vote, largely due to what I have read on here. May well change again before polling day, there is one option which delivers both on self interest and on the long term agenda in a perverse way. But current vote reflects gut feel and genetic heritage. The alternative requires doublethink.

Working in the US at the moment. UK election attracting zero interest, though everyone was fascinated by the Scots rederendum.

Bbc breakfast have just done a long interview with milliband. Interestingly there was no sign of the 12year old looking political editor who sneeringly ripped Cameron apart after his interview.
Unbridled favouritism from our left wing public broadcaster.

I think you'll find there is no BBC left wing bias and you can see that all the way from Norway. :emoticon-0100-smile

I'm trying to get into the "I Cannot Vote" category. I can't get in there by virtue of youth and the peerage is still apparently in the post. I'm not sure what crime to commit, so that just leaves insanity...

...but isn't that the same as voting Green?

With BBC World mate you can see it from anywhere worldwide not just Norway.. Equally the Conservative Daily Telegragh mouth piece, and other propaganda rags can be seen from anywhere worldwide. By the way you see Cameron just quit?

The BBC is, and has to be, politically impartial - it's written into its charter.

They have just appointed Andrew Neil, an avowed Conservative, to take over the election coverage from Jeremy Paxman, who recently outed himself as a Tory too. The point is that when working for the BBC, they cannot show bias.

I'm sure most on here thought Paxman was a raving leftie.

Andrew Neil destroyed the Labour campaign manager on Sunday - i cant even remember her name she was that nondescript - and I thought of the so called bias. I'll see if i can find a link it's worth a watch - can't recall seeing so effective a dismantling in a long time.

    Here it is:

I'm at work, so will have to watch that later. The thing is though, Neil is entitled to destroy a Labour representative, as long as he gives a Tory the same treatment. If this person couldn't handle it, that's not Neil's fault.

Paxman, athough no longer on the BBC, gave both Cameron and Miliband a very hard time on the CH4/Sky programme - Miliband just happened to handle him slightly better. In contrast, Kay Burley was positively fawning over Cameron, but couldn't wait to interrupt Miliband during the audience questioning.

Kay Burley was simply awful. How she can be a serious political journalist is beyond me. It was like Lorraine Kelly trying to do it.

Interesting that your perception was that Milliband handled Paxo better. I thought Wallace was awful and reminded me of Pitt the Younger from Blackadder III.

I'm not saying Miliband did well, just not as badly as Cameron. He must have looked shaken at the end, though. Did you hear Paxman, presumably thinking the mike was off, say "Are you ok, Ed?". "I'm alright, are you?" he bravely replied.

I always felt that the beeb breakfast presenters particually Charlie State and Louise Munchkin give the labour party an easier ride than the tories, they always seem to want to talk over and interupt any tory they interview but always allow the labour interviewee free rein to talk without interuption. The only presenters who appear impartial are Bill and Naga.

I heard the American commentator PJ O'Rourke on the radio the other day. He's in the UK to cover the election and was asked how the main UK parties compare to those in the US.

"Well you have the Labour Party - which is very much like the Democrats. Then you have the Liberal Party - which is very much like the Democrats. Then you have the Conservative Party - which is also very much like the Democrats".
