Yeah, to break it down ... Jakobsen is coming up the inside of the barriers alongside Groenewegen and is going to go past him. Groenewegen makes one move to the right going off line which pushes Jakobsen close enough to the barriers, but he's still coming up the inside. So Groenewegen, realising he's likely going to lose the sprint, makes another more aggressive move into Jakobsen using his bike and also barging him with his elbow and shoulder charging him, putting the squeeze on him, this time causing Jakobsen to run straight into and through the barriers and into the official. He was looking to take him out. It's dangerous riding and unacceptable behaviour
I edit. I watched it again after reading about his current state, didn't feel comfortable watching it over and over until I know he was okay (ish). Be a bit strong but you could argue a case for attempted manslaughter
Some improvement thanks. Right ankle swelling has gone down and feels ok to walk on, right hand had swelled and little finger painful but that is a lot better although I can still feel the damage. Forearm scabbing over and relatively painless. The biggest worry is my side/back, still very painful to move about and still thinking broken rib. Its waking me up regularly during the night and turning over is not easy at all. If I find that dog I'm going to kick its bollocks off My Cannondale Bad Boy is a rugged machine and seems to have come off unscathed pretty much
remember years ago watching similar on the Champs d'Elysee (sp) when the inside rider was squeezed onto the barrier stand and went absolutely flying . this one from a few years ago was a pretty worrying one to watch due to the lampost .
From recent experience what I can say is things that feel 'bad bad' after a crash aren't necessarily that. I thought I might've fractured my arm/elbow in the one I had the other week but it was just the hard heavy impact and swelling and stuff, my whole arm was getting shooting pains and at one point was hard to bend at the elbow, but it was obviously just a bit bashed up as it's a lot better now ... I think! Still got a scab with a bit of a bump under it that's painful if you press on it though I also had a painful right side and back and couldn't sleep properly for a few nights. Sounds very similar to what you've got but maybe not as severe, but that cleared up so, easy to say, but just take it easy and see how it is, if it starts to improve you're probably alright I'd be inclined to tie the dog on its lead to my seat post and take it for a fast off road ride At least your bike is fine, if only I was into mtbs and had a sturdy off road machine instead of a sensitive and poncey carbon road bike
That's a nice pile up. Nothing untoward though and pretty innocent as the cause was the one rider's bike just going from underneath him. Of course it happened where they could all slide towards a f*cking substantial lamppost though
https://www.heart.co.uk/lifestyle/cambridge-dutch-style-roundabout-opens-cyclists/ Good God, there are far too many that don't know how a roundabout works already without making it more complicated!!!
Looks fairly well set out, quite a good idea as well. When I used to cycle, round abouts where hellish at times. Absolutely terrifying
I think the zebra crossings make the difference, there is no confusion, theyve got stop. Then again, you see some and you wonder how they get from a to b with causing an accident
UPDATE..............Had been doing bits of light work up to Friday afternoon which had been uncomfortable. I wake up on Saturday morning in quite severe discomfort, basic movement bringing shooting pain on the right side of my back. Eventually end up in A+E and the Doc informs me I have two broken ribs. This accident occurred on Monday evening ......although I did suspect all was not well. So, he's put me off for a week and I'm on all sorts of meds, says 10 or 12 days is the usual recovery time for this sort of thing. Can't really afford to stop but what can you do, this is going to cost me an arm and a leg. On a side note, a mate of mine on a smaller neighbouring island had to come over here for treatment on a finger (funnily enough after a dog bite) and has been left with a bill of thousands of pounds. You can't afford to get ill these days....
Channel Islands mate, I'm on the second largest island Guernsey (Pop. 62,000 approx.). All part of the British Isles. Father was from Bootle and moved down here in the early 60's and I was born shortly after that. There are other smaller islands with populations in the hundreds rather than thousands.....Alderney, Sark, Herm etc. Jersey is the largest Channel Island with about 100,000. Family are all reds, with the exception of my older sister who is Everton
can't say i'm surprised as i had similar a few years ago when it hurt but manageable but then 3 days later woke up in agony barely able to breath . Mind you here on mainland just had my GP check me over & he went "deffo 1 rib broken & probably another " checked oxygen levels just to be sure i hadn't pierced a lung and sent me on my way with a prescription for some painkillers .
Yeah, sounds very similar. The Doc checked my spine first and then breathing for lung damage, all ok. Broken ribs are no fun though, second time I've done this and both cycling accidents
