So, back to bike crashes. I'm on my way home Monday evening on a cycle path about half a mile from home when I hear barking behind me <grr>
This dog has come from nowhere and is about 12 or 15 yards behind and closing in. I accelerate but have to take a left turn at a T-junction.
I have to slow down for the turn but make it ok and go to accelerate again on the gravel. The back wheel just goes from underneath me and I
hit the deck hard on my right hand side. The dog stops a few yards away and is barking like **** as I'm in a heap bleeding :emoticon-0106-cryin I'm on the deck
for a few minutes winded and aching as the dog ****s off. I manage to get home slowly, skin missing from right arm and my back has taken
the brunt of the impact. Right ankle swells during the evening and I have a sleepless night in pain. Missed a days work Tuesday but did a couple
of hours today, still painful to breathe in fully. Could be a broken rib, not sure. Bikes ok I think.

First night back at footy tonight, ran like I'd never been away!

Planned to ride there and back on the bike but it started pissing it down about an hour beforehand, didn't want to leave the bike in the rain. Annoyingly, it only lasted half hour but was too late to go on the bike then :(

This Jakobsen crash in the Tour of Poland sounds terrible, hopefully he will make a full recovery

Yeah that was horrific. Seems like from recent reports that he is going to make it, although what state he'll be in who knows. Watching it my immediate reaction was it's incredible he wasn't killed there and then. Also hopefully the race official who got hit is alright too. Groenewegen, the rider who caused it, should be severely punished, banned really. It's unacceptable and criminal riding and just nasty behaviour.

Here's the footage. Don't know if you want to watch it though ...

Tour of Poland crash: Fabio Jakobsen has facial surgery and remains in coma - https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cycling/53671028

He's had facial surgery and he's in a coma, hoping to wake him up today. Initial tests say no brain or spinal damage

How's the recovery going ? That sounds like a painful one, plus added stress from potentially aggressive dog! <laugh> Is the bike all ok ?

I guess he'd take a bit of facial disfigurement over paralysis or brain damage. Really awful, all because the other guy threw a hissy fit because he was about to be out sprinted and couldn't take it.
