So where were all these people on Saturday when they had a perfect chance, in an easy to reach, 30 mins before the game march then? Easy to post stuff online, difficult to actually do something? If they did an only online poll, you're probably right, although why you're quoting %s when you really don't know those figures at all, and they're just made up, I've no idea. That said, if they had someone write the question in a specific way, that would sway how people vote too, as we've seen in this very thread. Wouldn't be so clear cut if it was only by say, giving everyone going to a home game a card and asking them to mark one option with an X and hand it back. Even then I suspect a lot would just not complete the cards.
Well what? You posted a response that had nothing to do with my post you quoted. Yes I'm aware the FA has said that about name changing consultation, the club's said they'll consult over proposed badge changes too. So as the club hasn't consulted the fans, do you agree that the name isn't changing to Hull City Tigers or Hull Tigers this season? What's the consultation question you're asking me got to do with lack of actual, physical support outside of the internet when the opportunity was given? Waiting for me tea btw as you seemed interested.
When I played sport folk shouted my normally used name or nickname to encourage me, the same as they did when in most social or working settings, my full name was an irrelevance to anything other than a precise reference point - but I never changed my full name; have you?
You say that as if the name change will magic away the fans right to use the word "The". That is simply not the case. Take, for example, Denver Broncos. Go to Denver and the fans will still all ask if you are going to watch "The Broncos". You will still be able to shout "Up the Tigers" or "Come on you 'ull" if you feel the need.
I was being relevant to your posting: any consultation and subsequent poll should reveal the depth of feeling - to you and like-minded 'don't care' fans, and to Dr. Allam too. I suspect - if Dr. Allam allows a vote - there will not be a so-called neutral option. So, if that were the case, would you vote for Hull City? Or would you vote for Hull Tigers? Enjoy your tea!
Above the entrance to our offices it says Hull City Tigers, on the gates to our training ground it says Hull City Tigers, on my application form for Man City away it said Man City v Hull City Tigers, our owners have said they want us to be called Hull City Tigers, but it's not happening, is it? You're determined to ignore what's right in you're face and you wonder why people get frustrated. Farcical.
Happy is dead right. You keep dragging hypothetical, and frankly ridiculous, alternative situations into this. For a start, if he goes ahead with "Hull Tigers" he is even less likely to change the kit (Red Tigers?). Equally I don't say I don't care about the name change. I do care, I just don't mind. But when you say that I wouldn't care if the name changed to Hull Turd Burglars you actually cheapen your own argument and just look silly, because we all know that isn't going to happen. Come up with something that might realistically happen and I give you my answer to that possible situation, otherwise you just invite ridicule to what is actually a reasonable position to take. Actually I understand your views, I even sympathise with them, but I do not share them. I'm not calling you stupid, or taking the piss out of your stance, I just don't agree. It's not that uncommon for two people to have differing views without falling out over it
OLM, there are (you say) 1812 members of this board. 131 have voted against the name change in answer to a poll you created. Hardly an 85-90% endorsement as you claim. Seems to me there are 1681 who actually are either for the name change or don't mind or don't care.
I would prefer Hull City (given a choice) I don't mind Hull City Tigers I don't like Hull Tigers I couldn't care less about the AFC at the end of the name. Therefore I also sympathise to some extent with those who fear Hull Tigers. I don't fear it but I don't like it either. What really winds me up however and puts me into piss-take mode is the AFC's. I really cannot see or understand this point of view, given that nobody ever referred to this in any normal conversation when speaking about their club.
I'm prepared to have a sizeable bet with you that Hull City Tigers find an Asian market to tap into before they become Hull Turd Burglars. Shall we say £100?
People keep mixing up extreme examples I cited to make a point, with the genuine points I was making. I mentioned kit colours, to highlight the issue of where an individual would draw the line, I'm not suggesting for a minute that it's something being considered. The 'I don't give a ****' option was tongue in cheek, but as I've repeatedly stressed referred to Hull City Tigers, or Hull Tigers, not something daft like Hull City Turd Burglars. Our owner has said he wants us to be called Hull Tigers, that could obviously realistically happen as a consequence, realistic proposition, what's your realistic response?
Not according to the FA it isn't. Not this season. That's all commercial stuff, although I see why you'd be upset by the Man C application form. I'd happily vote for Hull City Tigers, I'd still call us Hull City, in the same way I've never ever called us Hull City AFC. No I wouldn't vote for Hull Tigers, although I wouldn't be outraged by it and join in marches over it, I'd accept it and carry on as normal. This however is all pure conjecture, we've no idea what the question will be, or what the options will be. Like I've said previously, I trust the Allams, I trust Nick T, I trust their business acumen, and I believe they're in it for the long term. I'd be more upset to find out they're not than the name changing tbh. I know you like to have a little dig at the end of all your posts but seriously, you're determined to quote made up stats, poll a biased question, and can't see any further than your own agenda, and you don't even notice how frustrated people are with you.
I prefer Hull City Tigers, Or Hull City. I don't care about AFC, But I could live with Hull Tigers if it brought significant revenue in. However I do think it sounds clumsy to a western mind. How it sounds to the Eastern ear I couldn't say.
You're the one making up extreme examples... So why not make a new poll then give people the options of: 1. Keep us as Hull City AFC 2. Hull City Tigers 3. Hull Tigers 4. Don't mind Then see if a higher percentage of people respond. There's nothing insulting in that question, its clear cut, proper options. I'd still wager the majority of forum users will just not respond, which in some posters views on here suggests they'd be a 4 by default.
Noooooooooo You have to have a Hull City option separate from Hull City AFC to identify the lunatic fringe.
You do realise not every single person on this forum posts or even are online very often? So saying that those who don't vote instantly don't care 'by default' is very poor logic. I bet that if every person on here did vote on your poll, then you would see a majority for option 1.
