I really think this might be HBA last season for us. If PSG want him they will get him. He wants to go there.

I'm not questioning his commitment at all, but he will surely think he can achieve better things in the summer and move on. There's no crime in that. When he has been fit for the majority of the time he's been a joy to have around.

Disagree with the OP personally, I think Tiote is much more than just a ball-winner. It's what Perchy does so well when he plays there, but Tiote gives us more, his passing is fantastic. Remember last season vs Sunderland (2nd Half) and Man U, both at home? He completely dominated the game with his passing.

I agree sometimes he tries to do too much when he's under pressure, but that's what he needs to learn to deal with, when to just hoof it. I think we'd be losing a big part of his game if we just asked him to do Perchy's job.

All that said, he's had a poor season, so he does need to get back to basics first until the team is playing well - so to that extent, I agree.

I feel the reason why Tiote has been trying to do more in terms of going forward is that he's usually played this season without Cabaye, so he seems to think it's up to him to be our playmaker

YOU can go tell him he isn't... We'll be over in desolate Poland just in-case you need us (/he takes it badly)...

I seem to remember a soundbyte from Pards in his early days about making him much more than a holding midfielder. I remember saying to my mates at the time "why do managers always fiddle on like this?" Makelele was never anything more than a holder but he was bloody good at it. Not everyone can be Clarence "Fecking master of all midfield roles" Seedorf. Some players just need left to what they are good at. If they are capable of developing their game then great. Its like HBA. Pardew taught him to defend better and do enough defensively. Great because he as the capacity to do so. Ginola? Nah no thanks, just accept a weakness on that side defensively because he'll give you so much going forward it'll always be worth it. You'd have just sickened him by forcing him to do something else, KK understood this.

Some can some can't. A managers job is to pick the right ones to develop certain parts of their game. All players need to develop but some just don't want to learn certain things, and some are ill suited to it.

Tiote needs to protect, destroy and release, protect, destroy and release all game long.

I issue a mini apology to Tiote. I stick by some of my points, but he was actually really good when he came on.
