Am i the only one who thought Cameron Stewart was ten times the player when he was upfront alongside simpson rather than out on the wing? Personally him and Fryatt up top would work as it would give Stewart the ability to roam where he likes without having any defensive duties. You would then need a couple of midfielers bringing in as these two will NEED it to their feet so the supply has to be spot on, which at times this year it really wasn't. If we are going to launch it long it has to be over the top not low and long which we seem to do an awful lot of.
What the ****? Last time I suggested that Simpson was much better than McLean and had a good chance of getting 12-15 goals next season with the right service, I was basically laughed at by the entire board. Suddenly 9 out of 10 of you agree with Cumbrian about Simpson? :S Am I becoming another TWF, where no matter what I say, I'm wrong?
no your not, i agree...he ran sheff united and bristol city ragged when up front, and he could go either side of the defence
I think what we need is a player that gets the fans going, like Stewart, gets the crowd cheering because he's just done over another player or had a shot on goal from a distance. Last season there wasn't much of an atmosphere and I sit in E2! IMO i like Simpson, but he seems to play with his back to goal, i'm not sure whether thats a confidence thing or what same as McLean, but we need a player like Fryatt to turn a defender and have a go! I'd really like a Darren Ambrose from Palace to go on the right wing, and have Danns and Evans in the midfield with Fryatt and Ishmael Miller up front. I know, I know, I can dream right? Up the tigers!
i have had this with you before and i will again. Purely due to money, Jimmy Bullard will still be on our payroll next season wether or not he is playing his football at the KC. All the optomists the "we should run away with the league title" types think all we have to do is put Jimmy up for sale and he will be off he didnt last season why should this one be any different? He wouldnt take a pay cut to save the club when we went down what makes you think he will pass up another two years on his deal on 45k to leave just cos we want him to? He knows he can refuse to move and be loaned out still getting all his £££. We WILL be his contract holder next season there is no doubt in my mind, no one else will give him a two year deal and no where near the same money. He would be lucky to get a one year deal most would look at pay as you play.
Completely agree with this article. It does my head in when I read articles about people like Borini, Earnshaw and other small strikers. We have Fryatt and Simpson to do this job well and McLean for backup. The problem is that we have no target man, and as you say no midfield. On another note, the theory that Koren is wasted on the wing isn't even slightly true, it's just something people copy off one anorther on these boards because he's better known as a CM. If you watch what he's actually done for us, all of his best bits have come from the wing, and he's only had one good game in the middle (last home game).
I can't count "9 out of 10" on this thread but agree there is some support for Simpson. However, I am 72 years old and "with the right support" I too could get 12-15 goals a season but I won't. Simpson got lucky at QPR and did have better support but imo he is another "Rock Hudson" Striker who although looked like he could score he could only do so by the back way (and without anybody noticing). No, you are not becoming "another TWF", who, by the way, has posted some fair and constructive posts on these and other boards over quite some time but who is also no stranger to controversial posts too. On some message boards they have an "ignore" button which I have used on a couple of posters who irritate me (not TWF incidently) and perhaps one could be incorporated to these boards bringing much satisfaction to who get upset at other posters comments. Only getting the "highlights" of the game and the odd 'live' telecast here in Oz I rely heavily on my sons and grandsons (who are season ticket holders at the KC) to keep me up-to-date with City players and their performances. Their opinion of Simpson, which concurs with mine on the few occasions I have seen him play, is that he is below average for this league - and that's putting it kindly. Nigel has a huge task ahead and will have to get lucky. Back in the 60's we brought in Waggy (along with Houghton and Butler) to give our local boy, Chris Chilton, some support. Within two or three matches we realised that we were on a winner as no matter who had the ball they knew instinctively where the other one was and didn't have to look for him. This sort of "chemistry" has not been seen again at Hull City since but we have to get lucky again sometime. Maybe it's not too far away but my Didgeridoo will gather dust whilst Simpson is up front.

Surprised they (Norwich) only bid £2m for him actually. Apparently they've agreed a £2.5m fee with Everton for James Vaughan as well.
Indeed, I'd love to see us bring him in, but I fully expect that Norwich will up their offer, I think they're just waiting to see if they can get Bothroyd on a free first.
I can live with TWF, he can be mildly irritating but you can just scroll on past his anti Pearson tripe and pro-Jimmy bluster if you want.. thing is he isn't what you'd call a WUM just very opinionated & idealistic..
