We won against Man United last time we were in the prem ...still got relegated though we've learnt our lesson.
Exactly the point I was making; Blackburn were excellent as were Wigan too for my money. Why do these teams raise their game against us? Both are now playing well and both started doing so when they played us at home. I think if we could have played either a week or two earlier we could have won.
Depending on results, we could pretty much be mathematically safe by Wednesday. The bottom clubs have 6 games to go, which yields a maximum of 18 points. If they all lose (which is feasible) a maximum return of 15 points are up for grabs. That would take them to 43, which is what our haul is so far. However, the best goal difference down there is -21 (QPR) when we have -6. I have better aspirations than purely scraping safety, but just pointing out the magnitude of where we are right now.
I think we are safe now with their goal difference being so bad. That said, let's push on to finish as high as possible. Proud City fan today.
Absolutely, just can't believe that we could virtually be mathematically safe with 5 games to go in the premier league. I thought we would really struggle tbh, just a huge achievement by all involved (and I include our fans in that equation).
You are safe now lads - time to put your feet up, open a bottle of red, light a cigar and watch the relegation battle commence. In the mean time if you beat Man City you could settle the title race as well!
When you posted this, I looked at our remaining games, and I honestly thought that Spurs and Arsenal were the only games we wouldn't get anything from. Can I have Lawro's job?
Swans and QPR's victories were 'at home' - we've done it away and after teams have got used to our style of play!!! Ah, the trouble is; with PL at the helm, we don't have 'just one style of play' - unlike Swans. I just love how the same players can play different roles.
Fair point a_skwared. For us that is a bone of contention at the minute. Norwich can play the physical/direct game or, as they showed in the second half at The Liberty, nice passing football.
Do you think rodgers will change his way a bit in the summer and maybe recruit 2 or 3 players to try and create a "plan b" PGF??
If he doesn't we will be in The Championship. One thing I admire about Lambert is that when he needs the points he will throw on a load of strikers. The only other manager who does that - SAF. That is why they get wins in the 94th minute. It is not luck.
As weve always said though, doesnt matter if you score in the 1st or the 91st minute-the goal has been scored in the alotted time and so theres no luck behind it atall. I have to say i admire how rodgers has done this season with the style of play, but he may have to against his beliefs for the future to keep the swans up. I expect a long tough haul again next season but hopefully we will have another season like this and hopefully you do aswell
I agree with that Both Clubs have tried to play attacking football and have not been satisfied with going away from home and putting a bus in front of goal. Both teams are good for Premiership football, in their different ways.
