And of course, dear Gooner, we are not merely "ahead" of you, we are streets ahead of you It's not even close. What's the betting that we can finish more than 20 points ahead of you, this season?
Hey, PISKIE, I bet that you're really proud to have people like zaGooner as fellow followers of London's 3rd placed team.
wow thats a nice observation...theres more mathematical riddles though Everton and Norwich - 26 points Sunderland,Aston Villa,Swansea - 27 points 15 games to go 45 points available..5 points adrift off the top and the 2 Manc teams dont look invincible.. anymore number patterns anyone?
I think that it's very handy that there's a group of teams competing behind us, with a nice gap between us and them. With Newcastle, Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal all pushing for places, there's always pressure on them.
I suppose that with the likes of Wilshere showing his illiteracy it kind of explains why goonerish is so common at the library. "I can confirm I have a stress fracture but it is not in the same area as my first injury which has healed very which I am happy about. I have developed a stress fracture in the heal now and I don't want to put any time scale on it as I do not know how long it will take. I will update you more in a couple of weeks when I know more!"
I couldnt agree more, while probably only Chelsea will think they can catch and overtake us, they will all be hoping for that last Champions League place and im sure if you offered Chelsea 4th now they'd take it. Arsenal, Liverpool and Newcastle (longshot for CL place anyway) are IMO not looking at 3rd place anymore and realistically would be keeping and eye on Chelsea's results rather than ours.
Arsenal's game against Blackburn, tomorrow, is a massive one for them. If they fail to win that, I truly believe they will have kissed goodbye to any chance of a top 4 finish. They will step up against Blackburn believing that the game is already won, and that will be a massive mistake. Blackburn is a club fighting for its very EPL survival, their players will be motivated to win, if only because no one will be expecting them to win, and are more than capable of pulling off an upset. Added to which, the Gooners are planning their "black bin-liner" protest, so expect quite a few empty seats among the home supporters, so that seats can be adorned with the aforementioned bin-liners. I'm sure the boo-boys will also add their vocal protest to the visual one. None of which is going to help their team, in the slightest. MOTD is going to be another joyful watch, tomorrow night
The Gooner crowd are like the Mob at Stade Francaise, very quick to get on their own team's back when it's not going well. So, if the Gooners don't start we'll, you can expect the crowd to get restless very quickly.
So will you lot be supporting us and United this weekend? I can't see you losing and I'd be very surprised if you don't win, Blackburn play okay but even when they play well they tend to still have about 4/5 defensive nightmares and I'm sure RVP will be happy to take advantage of a few of those chances.
There's something about the bin liner protest that doesn't make sense - surely swathes of empty red seats being visible is a better protest than covering them up?
Think the idea is that they blend in with Arsenal fans wearing their home strip. Not sure there will be many without a jacket on today, though.
Exactly, that's what I was thinking - covering the seats makes them less visible to both the camera and to people watching at the Emirates or on TV (especially since red is the colour the human eye picks out more than any other in the spectrum) Doubtless they'll claim it was another 60,000 sell-out - although even their fans and, more importantly, journalists have cottoned onto the fact this is an outright lie: http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2011/may/15/arsenal-aston-villa-premier-league
FFS! How useless are Blackburn! 1-0 to Arsenal inside 2 minutes! If Blackburn lose this by a cricket score, Kean has to go, surely?
WOO HOO! Blackburn equalise at the Library, and against the run of play, too! Superb! Cue the suicide notes, over on the Gooners' board
Nope, it was a temporary respite for Rovers. Here comes the collapse! 2-1 3-1 Bollocks! Bollocks! Bollocks!
Oh, Christ! It gets worse! Rovers are now down to 10 men and will have to play the entire second half like that
