I'm not suggesting for one single moment that I thought they could put seven past Liverpool, but going into the final weekend of the transfer window, I have been enormously impressed at Villa's transfer activity. Like I said during the week, I think Barkley could be the signing of the season.
If Watkins can do it at PL level (and today would suggest that is a yes), then they can absolutely finish in the top 10. I can't see Europe, simply because the competition for top six (or seven) looks incredibly strong. But from being one goal away from the Championship, I'd suggest that Villa have jumped straight past the likes of us and Palace.

Also, through four matches, we have seen 11 goals. That's 2.75 a game, a pretty normal total in most years. Except that only one team -- Sheffield United, naturally -- has featured fewer goals per game. Because everything is madness. In 2020-21, Ralph is a conservative manager.
