Yeah it's really not going to be straightforward staying up this year. Don't see us really moving from this third of the league for the rest of the season

I'm not worried at all... yet

When the fixtures came out I said we'd be at the bottom for a while

Really tough set of home fixtures to start:
Liverpool, Man Utd, Bournemouth, Chelsea,

Away: Burnley, Brighton, Sheff Utd, Tottenham,

Those home fixtures most would expect a max of 3 points and be happy with 1 (we have 1 so far, even if it's from Utd rather than Bournemouth)

The away fixtures therefore take on huge importance and 6 points from those is not too bad.

8 games in we'll have played 4 of the 'top 6' already. Once we get past November, our fixtures become a lot more appealing for getting points.

For me the biggest three games this season have been Brighton away, Sheff Utd away and Pompey away, and we've won all three. Our position in the league doesn't look great but when put in perspective, it's not awful either.

Graham Green: Not to take anything away from Brighton today, but watching Tottenham let in 10 goals (and counting?) over the past two games, how did Southampton not manage to beat a 10-man Spurs squad last week?!

From BBC sport.

Football expert? He must have only just started watching the game.

I don't expect us to get relegated, but we're barring a few upsets we're going to be spending an uncomfortable amount of time with the line in sight for the next few weeks.

I agree, there’s going to be a tricky few weeks. I can guarantee though that we won’t be relegated in the next few weeks.

Maybe not by five goals, but I was very much expecting Norwich to suffer these sort of defeats throughout the season. For me they have the weakest squad in the division, and will do very well to stay up. Villa at home is close to a must win for them.

The momentum and positivity which they carried from last season is well and truly over.

The City result really papered over the pretty alarming results elsewhere...their last four league matches otherwise have seen them outscored 11-1 by West Ham, Palace, Burnley and Villa.

Liverpool getting the rub of the green again? Surely not.

No idea whether or not it is a legitimate penalty, but just the sheer last minute penalty or luck AGAIN.
