PL teams have agreed in principle to 2 week winter break from 2020, but interestingly they intend to do it by staggering matches. There will be 5 matches on 1 weekend and 5 on the next....which will result in each team getting a 13 day break, but a completely blank weekend is avoided. Genius.

Why don’t they just cancel the FA Cup altogether, or skip straight to the quarter finals, with the top 6 PL sides, plus 2 randomly selected non-league teams to make up the numbers?Just seen it would be early February and it means that the FA Cup 5th round would be midweek with no replays![]()

It’s yet another example of the all-powerful Premier League trying to devalue all other competitions. It makes me so angry! When I was a kid, the FA Cup was the pinnacle, at least equal to winning the First Division title. Now it’s just a distraction from the PL and Champions League.FA Cup ties midweek really doesn't sit right with me personally.
