PL teams have agreed in principle to 2 week winter break from 2020, but interestingly they intend to do it by staggering matches. There will be 5 matches on 1 weekend and 5 on the next....which will result in each team getting a 13 day break, but a completely blank weekend is avoided. Genius.

And it will keep Sky happy.

Anything about when it is?

Just seen it would be early February and it means that the FA Cup 5th round would be midweek with no replays :(

Why don’t they just cancel the FA Cup altogether, or skip straight to the quarter finals, with the top 6 PL sides, plus 2 randomly selected non-league teams to make up the numbers?

FA Cup ties midweek really doesn't sit right with me personally.

It’s yet another example of the all-powerful Premier League trying to devalue all other competitions. It makes me so angry! When I was a kid, the FA Cup was the pinnacle, at least equal to winning the First Division title. Now it’s just a distraction from the PL and Champions League.

PL is the be all and end all now.

Kind of sad really.

I’ve got no problem with midweek FA Cup games. Floodlit games may even add to a little magic.

Clearly the downside will be fan travel.

Anyone heard any medical opinion on this?
Removing the replay might help but for me moving a game to midweek just increases the chance of injury, devalues the cup as clubs will prioritize the league and only benefits bigger(PL) clubs who expect to still be in the cup at that point.
