I'm too young to remember that but seeing as Wenger had success for 6/7 years then I'd say no, not the same.
slight difference. Wenger rebuilt the defence. Cole, Lauren, Campbell and Toure as far as i am concerned never one played under graham
Jesus, thanks for making me feel old . Ask an Arsenal fan of my generation. Indeed. And they never matched up to Winterburn, Dixon, Adams and Bould. Even with Seaman behind them.
2003/04 team didn't do too bad though eh? I was specifically talking about one season after taking over a well organised side being successful and then turning to **** afterwards.
Yeah, I know. I was just making the point that a creative manager, following on from a cautious one, can create the perfect storm. Not many sides with rock solid defences have played free flowing attractive football; Wenger's arsenal did for a few years. Now their defence is on a par with West Ham's this season.
I'm not entirely sure what the record is for most sackings in one season, but I'm confident this season will best it. So many on the brink, even a couple new one's will be under great scrutiny.
A quick google comes up with 15 in the 94/95 season. Surely can't beat that. Same article informs me that Pellegrino is our 16th permanent manager since it has been known as the Premier League (and we have been it).
15 is a lot, but when you consider a few clubs may well sack a couple in the same term, its certainly open to chance. Swansea, WBA, West Ham, us, all could be in that situation.
How many have gone so far? 4? De Boer, Koeman, Shakespeare and Bilic? Can't see it being more than 10 tbh.
I'll get you to ten quickly. MP, Pulis, Unsworth, Hughes, Clement & the next guy in the Everton hot seat.
Don't think Unsworth counts as he is a caretaker. Not sure if Everton/West Ham will sack whoever comes in now. Doubt Stoke get rid of Hughes as well.
Terrific defence...not pretty, but pretty impenetrable. And don't forget those goals...corner onto Bould's head, followed by him heading it backwards...GOAL. You knew it would happen...didn't mean you could stop it. Might as well give them a penalty.
Even Conte, Klopp, Howe and Roy are not unthinkable. Although I strongly suspect that Eddie is far more likely to walk, than get sacked. There's also every chance of Rafa and/or Dyche moving on - but that would be through resigning, not sacking, so presumably doesn't count towards your tally. Pulis is probably in most danger, with Chelsea and Spurs up next. Although if their board was to sit tight, they do then follow that with a very nice run of fixtures that Tony could potentially get himself out of trouble with.
