well it’s what, 19mil of accounting errors. Which let’s face it is one good player these days. And based on Everton’s recent scouting history, that’s one awful player. They have been deducted points for what is essentially an accounting error. Sure, it’s bad but; Compared to Chelsea & city buying the league with blood money, Newcastle owned by a nation state know for human rights abuses and teams trying to split away and form a super league…. It is minor. None of these were punished at all. There just is no consistency at all.
It now appears that Burnley and Leeds had originally repoeted Everton to the PL due to the infrignement and that one newspaper is suggesting that three other clubs, including Southampton, are looking to sue Everton following the corroboration of the breach by the PL. I was wondering how the Saints fans in here have taken this news? I feel a bit saddened that we have taken this action which could cultimate in a further 9 point deduction and ultimately Everton being wound up. I am really uncomfortable about our club getting embroiled in this. Our relegation had nothing to do with Everton and was purely a consequence of the ineptitude of our board with regard to the appointment of the coaches and players. Proving a chain of causation from Everton's breach of the financial code to our relegation would be spurious at best. As a fan, I would be furious if the boot was on the other foot and another club was trying to kick us when we were down. I think we would be best stepping away from this.
Screw the bastards. Take them for every penny we can. It will be sweet revenge for Adrian Heath and that thug Bailey. They also play in blue so that is another good reason to screw them. PS ..and I have never liked them
One argument here is that on the face of it Leicester lost out last season as the highest placed relegated team. The extension of this is IF applied retrospectively to last year, they’d then not be sat top of the Championship and we’d be in with a better chance of promotion now I suspect it his is all too hypothetical to have much of a route forwards. At best I could expect small compensation for Saints to the tune of one league placement for example
I'm slightly (only slightly, as it's £700 we're talking about) ashamed to admit that I have Pompey in mine: Man City, Leicester, Pompey & Celtic - £40 stake for just shy of £700, not bad!
I often had them in a few of in mine in previous years (I do multiple ones at £2 each). Just typical that this was finally the season where I felt safe enough that I didn't need to worry about them screwing me over. So I don't have them in any of mine this time!
There has to be a consequence for breaking the rules and taking an unfair advantage over other clubs. A fine means very little to owners who have very deep pockets. They shouldn`t do the crime if they aren`t prepared to do the time. Sure its a shame for genuine fans, who are collateral victims. Everton (probably) benefitted from breaking rules by staying up on more than one occasion, at the expense of other clubs. It could be worse - they could be liquidated and cease to exist, as happened Glasgow Rangers.
Wonder goal aside, United are getting battered. Everton should be more like 3-0 up rather than 0-1 down.
That's not a second yellow. Martial was simply too quick for him. Glad he didn't get sent off for that.
Bad weekend for Everton, with Luton and Bournemouth winning. All of a sudden they're 5 points adrift.
Man Utd game will be remembered for the incredible goal by Garnacho. But more significant - for England anyway - was the debut of Mainoo. That kid in midfield with Rice and Bellingham is gonna be just too good. And the three of them have an average age of 21.
