It's mad to think that, despite everything which has gone on over our first 34 matches, if we were even half-capable, wins against Forest and Fulham might well take us out of the bottom three altogether.

Obviously it's not going to happen - we're going to lose both of them, and walk off against Fulham with relegation being confirmed. But just the fact that it's mathematically possible is madness. Leeds losing to City and Newcastle (and with their GD taking an even greater battering) is likely. Everton losing to Brighton and City is likely. Forest losing at Stamford Bridge may or may not happen.

It just makes this entire season just one big regret. It really wasn't difficult to survive.

It really wasn't, as Palace, Bournemouth and Wolves have shown.

I go along with your rationality. I suppose like many we hope that it is Forest and Leicester that survive with Everton getting relegated.

Yeah I was thinking this when just looking at the fixtures. Even if we’d held on for the win against Arsenal we’d have a shot at staying up by winning against Fulham and Forest (and therefore getting to 32 points). Plus beating Arsenal may or may not have meant we put in a better showing against Bournemouth and won which would’ve basically meant we would’ve survived if we beat Forest and Fulham

Just pathetic from the team though as normal this season

Leeds looking to Big Sam for the final four games, according to The Athletic.

Clearly trying to wrest the ‘most mental club’ title from us at the last.

Tell you what, it's too late now but I would've taken him three matches ago.

And Bournemouth, with no dis-respect to Gary O'Neil, did it with a manager with no pedigree or experience.

It shouldn't matter who Leeds have in their dugout for their next two games, they will still be overwhelming favourites to lose them both. On paper at least, it's looks like nothing more than a case of how much more damage will be done to their GD.

But it's not unrealistic to suggest that they might only need three or four more points. And whilst their last two games aren't exactly nice, they are far from write-offs. Leeds could get three or four points from those final two games, or maybe even the full six, albeit they probably wouldn't be favourties to.

So I can maybe understand the logic of changing things now, rather than waiting another week or two. Give Sam two weeks to assess the squad - whilst having two complete free-hits on the field - in readiness for a massive final two games.

I’d love to know the obscene package he’s on. The “stay up” bonus will be massive but I bet he’s getting a packet for the 4x games. PL eh.

Regardless of our fall from grace, looking at the table this morning, the saving places outside the bottom three are up for grabs and it is very interesting to see who will join us in a new footballing adventure next season. I wouldn't want to bet against any of them, they seem to look as hopeless as us in one game and then not bad in another. The level of performance by the players in wanting to get a result in last night's 2-2 draw between Everton and Leicester City was much higher than anything we have produced, even if the players weren't necessarily any better, and therein lies the rub.

If I was a Chelsea fan I’d worry that Boehly has been listening to some of Ankersen’s TED Talks.

Hudson-Odoi, Tammy Abraham, Mason Mount, James, Chabolah, Loftus- Cheek, Gallacher, Colwill. These are good players that are/were former academy players st the club. With a few prudent additions, this would have been a very good side. By purchasing so many players on different terms and conditions, this may well have ruined any harmony that was there earlier in the season. This club got the double over the possible CL champions in the earlier weeks of Potter's tenure so I don't think Chelsea's misfortunes are entirely down to.Lampard!!
