Their forums seem quite happy and actually I don’t think it is that bad a decision. The media are sort of play acting as if he has been made permanent, which would be ridiculous. But as a two month interim: - It gives Chelsea time to really consider their next move, which Boehly desperately needs. - He might be a relatively sub par manager, but he does have experience and he actually didn’t do an awful job last time he was there imo. His first season was actually a success all things considered and 18 months is probably the average tenure of a Chelsea manager, he didn’t leave in disgrace. - He is an absolute icon for the clubs fans, so they will accept him quite happily while they wait to see who comes next, they know this isn’t permanent. - They don’t really have much to play for, they won’t qualify for Europe, they aren’t expected to win the CL and they aren’t going to be relegated. Plus he isn’t going to make them worse than they already are this season. - Gives Lampard the ability to reboot his managerial career if it goes well enough. If anything it’s quite a canny decision that works for all parties involved, it’s just that the media are spinning it to be something it’s not.
They have basically a free hit in the CL Mind you, Real Madirid have the coolest mindset in the business.
100% agree. And to add to that, there’s a squad brimming with talent there. He’ll get some results for them too.
Yeah I'm watching it, worst refereeing performance I've seen since Chelsea were cheated by Barcelona a decade ago.
If we just had three points more you would feel we are in with a chance of staying up. The teams around us are really struggling.
And any team we play in a 6-pointer and help them recover some form. That's now Forest, Wolves and West Ham we have helped to relieve some pressure. Bouremouth next.
Given both their form and their remaining fixtures, this is probably the first time when I'd back Bmouth to stay up. That, in turn, means that I'm almost bordering on having to accept that either Everton or Leicester could be joining us and Forest in the Championship. (I certainly don't yet think it's a straight fight between the two of them - there's still too many games left to play. But my conviction that they will both ultimately manage to survive is starting to waver.)
