Well done Man City, unlucky Liverpool, no doubt, the same two teams will fight to the last next season. I noticed Man City had changed their shirts and wore new ones with ‘champions 2021-2022’ written on the back of them. I wonder what will happen to the Liverpool ‘‘champions 2021-2022’ unworn shirts? Will they become collector’s items in a few years time.
They're definitely in trouble. The good news is that a lot of their old, useless players are out of contract. The bad news is that doesn't leave them with much squad left.
I'd like to think so. But I'd expect the queue for him to be huge. Not as huge as the queue for Eriksen, but still big. Newcastle and West Ham sound like they're the favourites. And I wouldn't rule out Villa, Everton or Leicester.
Yeah I'm not sure we'd get him as I'm sure he'll have plenty of offers but it's definitely the sort of signing we should be aiming at. That sort of proven and experienced CB would be an ideal partner for Salisu.
Of all the relegated players who I realistically think we could get, he's my standout choice. I don't care if he's not the best with his feet. Maybe I'm old school, but unless you're a team who is so good that they rarely face any shots on their goal, having a keeper who can keep the ball out of your net is far more important than one who can use their feet. And not many are better than Pope at that. Pope in a goal, and a solid, experienced CB alongside Salisu, and immediately we'd be so much better - even without dealing with the other issues.
I watched the Leeds game with my lad because there's something wrong if its the last game of the season and I'm not invested in a relegation decider. Very careless Brentford side which was lucky for Leeds. Gelhardt out in another good shift but Brentford did all the work for Leeds, special shout out to goal scorer Canos who was subbed on scored and booked twice in the space of 2 minutes. That will be heading for some sort of record. Even against 9 men Leeds looked shaky and what they do in the summer will be as vital as what Saints do. Expect a lot of joint links with players coming up.
Interesting end to season at both ends of table. Last day actually mattered. Made better viewing than usual.

In amongst the Saints-based misery, we haven't had a moment to enjoy the fact that Cedric got a goal and an assist against Everton. I think we should take a second and drink that in.
