What we REALLY don’t need, is City conspiring to lose to West Ham on the weekend, and giving Liverpool a sniff of a goal difference based chance.
We can even afford another 9-0 defeat. We're safe. (Well I say "we". I'm not sure that applies to Ralph specifically.)
Just send that message, 0-18 to my Toon mate, who has been trying to get a positive reaction from me. He’ll have to try harder. 55 years of Saints lows has left a scar. 24 hours after the last game, might be the time to relax. Watford also doing us a favour. Thanks Sirelton.
I gotta say that without Ayling and James Leeds are probably up poo creek. I expected them to do enough but those two pathetic decisions have probably F'd any chance they had. Cements James as my choice for worst signing of any team in the league this season. Their fixtures are the only thing that might save them. If they get a point or two there's a definite possibility of Burnley getting nothing.
It was interesting to listen to the Leeds commentary last night and then hear the assessment of Marsch's appointment and impact on the club. The post-match interview Marsch gave complimented Leeds' battling spirit albeit the match was effectively over as soon as James got sent off. By all accounts, Chelsea should have had more than 3 goals and Marsch's intention to shut up shop proved ineffective. They have now had two players sent off in successive matches and the post-match analysis bemoaned their lack of discipline. You just sense that this managerial appointment is further proof than American football coaches are yet good enough to manage at this level. It was intriguing that Marsch was successful in Germany but is now managing a team that has conceded 37 goals at home this season. t think Leeds should have dumped Bielsa much earlier on in the seaon but you wonder if the appointment was Jesse Marsch was a reckless and James' tackle last night. Marsch won't last five minutes in the Championship.
I would marginally favour Leeds' fixtures over Burnley's. But Burnley are more "battled hardened", and probably most importantly are actually able to field 11 senior players. The way that James and, in particular, Ayling have let Leeds down this week - a team already with injuries and a small squad - is probably sufficient to outweigh the marginally easier fixtures. I'm confident that Burnley will lose to Spurs (even if Spurs lose tonight). But I wouldn't want to bet on the other four games involving the two teams.
Still find it strange he was not good enough at Saints yet somehow earned a move and starts semi regularly for Arsenal... yet is still ****.
Were so unlucky though that they will probably win 9-0 and then Liverpool get a new record on Tuesday with 10
