No, I think he would be a defence first type of manager. Make us more solid but stick 10 men behind the ball most of the time. And he would insist on a target man up front. Not for me but I no way laugh at him or mock him though. He's been incredibly successful at Burnley and has my respect. He just wouldn't be a good fit for us IMO.
It is an interesting question but I think the issue with Burnley reflects the style of football. They remind me a lot of Stoke when Pulis was in charge. Effectively they have small expectations and the club is geared purely around the matter of Premiership survival. I find them tedious to watch and distracts from the idea that football is supposed to be entertainment. I have to say that I feel Dyche has done an excellent job at Burnley. They are effectively a Championship club and he has made the awkward to beat. However, the club needs refreshing and this season has proved difficult to get the same tune out of the old fiddle. I think that there is probably an underlining issue within the club that has seen Burnley part ways with Dyche. He was a good fit for them but I am not convinced there will be many fans wanting him to rock up at their club. Burnley have been hopeless this season and I am not sure quite how Dyche could remotivate them. I see him as the last of the more pragmatic style of managers who came into prominence in the 1990s. I am not sure that fans really want to watch the style of football produced. Puel was booted from Saints for taking this view. I think Dyche will be snapped up quite quickly and probably needs to have a fresh challenge. As far as Burnle are concerned, they are probably doomed. The bad thing is that ot gets Everton off the hook.
Record-wise there’s no difference between them. So obviously that means Ralph is a legend, and Dyche is a joke.
Dyche has done a pretty incredible job keeping a Championship-budget squad in the Premier League. I mean, the even have a couple of our rejects in Corky and Jay-Rod. Not only that but they have a reputation as being very hard to beat and they regularly take points off the top sides. Would be very interesting to see what Dyche could do with some actual money to spend. Brought in Cornet and Weghorst so knows a good deal when he sees one. Would be happy to see him at Saints if Ralph leaves or gets the boot.
Didn't they also borrow against the clubs assets to fund the initial purchase? Definitely a bit of a concern. Hopefully they don't fall too hard if they drop as I've got a lot of time for Burnley. A well supported club who've punched above their weight for quite some time.
No difference, little difference, lots of difference, I don't really know. I just know you're not supposed to say that another manager might do a better job than Ralph on here.
Dyche isn’t a joke, he’s done everything Burnley have asked of him (just like Allardicci did at Wham). But I’d probably stop watching Saints if we played like that every week; Ralph’s a legend because he’s like a cross between Klopp and Koeman, without the players either of them have had to work with.
I've skim read through the Dodgy Dychey posts above and think a move to to the Router thread is appropriate. Has BFS to Burnley been mooted?
Well the good thing is Burnley have absolutely doomed themselves. So that leaves room for a more entertaining side to come up. The bad news is that means Everton are safe
