This will be the first real test of whether we slipped in any sell ons for these players. Myself, well I'm reckoning we didn't.
You get some money just because a youngster trained with you (not sure if Morgan was young enough). Apparently your right to some of the sell on price doesn't fade with time...however, some little clubs don't know this, but you can bet Saints do. We'd have been in for a sum if Bale had moved on....even though the proper sell on payment had gone. Every little helps.
We did get some youth development money from the Bale transfer. But we sold the 20% sell on fee back to them for..... drum-roll please..... quick payment of installments. Possibly the worst bit of business ever.
Now that we have an "other clubs" transfer rumours thread, please can we talk about Morgan's impending doom on there?
Has Rojo got some sort of note from his mum, asking the referee's to take his two-footed tackles lightly?
Ha.! To be fair, I've been noticing WBA quite a bit this last year or so. They're on a mission, like every other club, but it's one that appears to be on an upward move. Fair play to them. Quietly and stealthily, they are incrementing upwards. I certainly doesn't hurt that they seem to have first refusal of ManU fall outs, but they are well organised and are difficult to beat. In Rondon they have a proper decent CF, and if only Berahino could take his head out of his arse, they might be a proper danger to Saints in the 6th place brigaid.
Jeff Stelling on Sky: The great entertainers are at the Hawthorns tonight....and so are Manchester United.
It'll be interesting if there's money there for Pardew to spend to in January. Yes, had they lost to us he'd no out be out by now. The new man would have a full half season to get hold of them, as well as a January transfer window. It's all well and good spending money on Benteke and Townsend, but their defence and central midfield is mainly Championship standard. That said, I put Palace in the same boat as the likes of Sunderland or Burnley. If Swansea don't get their act together, then they should stay up (I can't see Hull or Boro staying up). If Swansea do get their act together, then they're in big trouble.
So many players get stupid yellows to get to the ban limit or get stupid reds this time of year. Almost if they meant to...
