Maybe Covid was sick of the bad press it has been getting of late, and wanted to attach itself to a winner. Cos winning is what he does. Get well big Davey.
They're still playing when the results came back while at the ground "It's sound lads, just go home and we'll crack on."
I think that a few more player and managers will test positive and we will have a suspension of the season before long. Looking at March now until we can go to the matches so we may as well suspend the season until then.
Unsurprisingly Liverpool v Arsenal will now kick off at 8pm instead of 8:15pm to avoid the match finishing after 10pm. Better hope for minimal VAR involvement.
The Jorge Mendes era continues at Wolves. I wonder if there will ever be any questions asked about the stream of top talent flowing into the club through his agency. Given that it’s you know, not on.
Not for the first time: the most substantial change that could be made to the manner in which European football operates is to change the agent model. A large percentage of what people feel is driven by player power is actually agents, because of the perverse incentives built into the transfer system. If you as an agent get paid when players are transferred or sign new deals, then you have every incentive to push for a constant state of flux. If agents were paid in the same fashion as in North American sports (a flat 5% of the player's contract, plus often the same 5% of endorsements, etc) you would still have some powerful agents, but you would not have the same churn, nor would you likely have agents acting as de facto DoFs.
I think (but doubt it will ever happen), is players should pay for their agents and not the clubs. Such a change would see the role of agents altered as players would have to dig into the millions they are paid. Probably looked at as unfair on the poor overpaid darlings.
Surely that would still just be passed on to the clubs though? For example, if Salisu had to pay his agent £100,000 (a figure plucked out of thin air), then he may only sign if we gave him the same amount as a signing on fee, or a higher wage to factor in the money he spends out on the agent?
Yes, I agree with what you are saying, it just shows what is wrong with the game at the top level when players earn more in a week than most of us earn in several years or ever, and still they are not satisfied. Many are out of touch with the real world and what is it that agents bring into the game? Many appear to be parasites feeding off of the success of players.
You may not like it, but agents get paid to get the best deal for their clients....so not exactly parasitical. No different from literary agents arranging publicity and contracts for their clients or auctioneers getting commission for getting the best price for your goods.
Thanks for the reply, mate. Just got rid of sky so defo going to look in to getting this now. Looks very good value. Cheers
