Quite possibly... I work very close to the training ground and did a Sports Day at the athletics track that shares a boundary fence. Had a peer over at the few that were there training and while it was astro in good condition and well kept unlike what you have at a local leisure centre that every Tom, Dick or Harriet could play on, it just struck me as very odd that these Premier League players were training in something between Blackpool Beach and a concrete car park.
I feel the following teams have underachieved massively given their spending, fanbase and standing in the game. Everton, Villa, Arsenal, West Ham and to a lesser extent Tottenham. Par for the course - Wolves, Crystal Palace, Brighton, Southampton, Newcastle. Over-achieved Leicester, slightly, and Sheffield United. It will be interesting to see Manchester United and Chelsea closing the gap on the top 2. If Chelsea can add Kai Havertz!!!! Crazy Award must go to Watford!
Somethings never change. Manchester United getting penalties, and Davi Luiz conceding them. It would be interesting to compare those penalties given to Manchester United, as pre Fernandes they weren´t even getting in the box to create those opportunities let alone score.
I was actually wearing a sombrero as I judged the long jump (a very hot day).... the look that Boruc’s gave me as I peered over was priceless...!!
Man U's post-lockdown form has been great, though, so doesn't surprise me. Were they even the only team not to lose a game post-lockdown? It really does say something that Villa are in the top half of the form table, despite winning just two games all lockdown! Ultimately the biggest beneficiaries of VAR since it started in the PL.
This sums him up but Jenas tweeted the other day that Pickford should still be England’s number one because Pope can’t play football and isn’t good with his feet... Pickford can’t save and has lost the ball while being closed down countless times. I just tweeted this image to Jenas to ask if he is sure about that!
Based on last season’s figures, the difference in prize money for finishing 11th rather than 12th is about £2m: https://www.premierleague.com/news/1225126 We will also get about £10m extra in prize money than we did last season. Interestingly, the team who finished 11th last year was... Watford.
Didn’t we get extra money for Liverpool winning the league a la VVD and Mane as part of the transfers.
Very interested to see how this pans out. It is completely unfair that villa got a point in that game, it was always going to have ramifications at the bottom of the league, with it being so tight. Maybe we can also sue the linesman from our league Cup final gabbiadini game?
