Well, Sunderland keeping Man City off our tail is a possible consequence that I'm taking slight notice of at present. And Newcastle kept Spurs out earlier. Hardly inconsequential.

Indeed. I didn't explain myself very well. I was rather more referring to the mindset that I still have lingering from last season, that if a team in the lower end of the league table won a game it was bad news for us. I have to remind myself now that it doesn't affect us in a negative way now if a team in the bottom half wins, it's either inconsequential (if they are beating another team in the bottom half) or it's to our benefit (they beat one of our current rivals at the top of the table).

Always hope for a draw when other teams are playing. No-one get away from you at the top. No-one can catch you from below. (but I don't mind Sunderland winning today!)
