Top 4 bid? I'd say 7th is the best we can aim for, however now weve lost Tiote, Taylor and Colo were basically ****ed.
It looked like a dig to me at first... our apparent 'expectations' of 4th? Laughable, it really is. But clearly it's not worked anyway And it won't be normal service until teams like Leeds and Forest are back either and we can get rid of Stoke!!
Title definitely suggests that it was an attempted dig, but most of us already knew that a top 4 position was never going to stay like that, we were just enjoying it while it lasted. Particularly due to the squirming it led to in the media.
If I'm honest if we have some cover in squad I think we could have kept it going, however despite having seemingly winnable games for the next month, we have lost too many key players. Were ****ed.
i was under the impression that newcastle were aiming up near the top of the table, based on their results and also the way they play. like against chelsea yesterday i thought they should really have won, had it not been for the referee deciding to keep luiz on the pitch when he clearly should have gone. you guys had loads of chances and on a different day would have walked away with the three points. i would say the only thing your missing is strength in depth, as pardew has basically played the same team week-in, week-out with small variations. but not being in any european competitions would help with that and with s. taylor fit i would have expected you to push for a top 4 place. didn't realise most toon fans think thats out of your reach, cos i don't think it is.
I think our starting XI is possibly good enough but when injuries hit us we havent got anywhere near as good cover as genuine top 4 contenders do.
7th place has been my target for a while now and I stick by it. It will be hard, but since we've started so well, I think we can do it.
ffs will you stop it man. If that's your attitude then stay away from SJP. I admit it looks bad but negative attitudes will not help us. Colo should be back soon along with Willo. Tbh, If Willo is fit and seeing as the Jan window is open, Taylor isn't an end of the world loss. It's a big loss, but Colo would have been the worst possible loss, and he's still here. Willo isn't as good as Saylor but he's good enough. WE CAN DO IT!! Stop saying we're ****ed because if we think like that we might as well just pack our bags and **** off to the championship.
Cheers, agree with all of this and think Liverpool have spent very poorly. Best realistic finish is 6th for us, and I cant see us dropping out of the top 10.
I disagree with the bit in bold mate. I appreciate your kind words towards us, but we lack depth in the CB area, and even more so now that Steven Taylor is out for the season. We have covering players but not quality ones really. We have Best and Ba upfront, with HBA to support them, but after that we have no real quality. Our season will depend on us not getting anymore bad injuries.
Well he's also out for the season, so we're about to find out whether Dalglish can deal with his absence. Spearing's the obvious replacement, but that's quite a step up for him.
Wel I never said I won't support the players, however If you don't think we struggle for points with Perch and possibly Kadar at CB then that's fair enough mate. I am just pissed off because we all knew we needed an CB in the summer.
Gotta feel sorry for anyone with worse squad depth then us, seeing as ours consists of the Ameobi brothers and James Perch.
Colo will be back soon, and so will Willo. Stop saying we're ****ed. It's a worry, I agree, but it's not game over at all man. Perch didn't look awful vs Chelsea. He just got outclassed, but we're not going to face Chelsea every week, and Perch will probably not even be playing in a few weeks when Willo is back.
Thanks for your nice comments mate, but I don't think so. I think 7th is the best we can do, and we will be challenged by Everton for that spot also.
