Anyone who would rather accept a lower form of competition because it's easier to be mediocre is essentially a loser.

Professional sport is entertainment and nothing more, its something to fill your time before you kick the bucket, if your not entertained whats the point in going?

As fans you accept whatever happens because you have absolutely no influence on the club at all, the least you can hope for is to be entertained along the way.

There wasn't much entertainment when I used to watch City in the 3rd + 4th divisions. It was a bloody good laugh though.

If people are bored with the idea of being mid-table PL, then what's the point? Surely you're excited for every season City are competing at the highest level they can, and hopefully seeing the club push on even higher. Soton are hardly billionaires yet look at what a cracking Academy can do?

if fans get bored in the premier league god knows what you would have done supporting city in the lower divisions playing at Boothferry park losing to the likes of Orient that was crap. I had a laugh at times but because it was such s----- we got used to it so just accepted it. If we went back to them days I don't think there would be many on here left.

I was thinking about that the other day, and I think I just got used to the fact we were ****, and I accepted we'd never really amount to bugger all, but, I didn't care about that, just watching us kick a ball around a pitch was enough for me.

The whole promotion thing took a bit of getting used to if Im honest.

you will always have periods of ups and downs in sport since moving to the KC we have had mainly good times. Many other clubs fans wish they were us. When you look back you tend to remember the good times but I can assure you there were many bad that's what makes me the fan I am today. At the moment yes we have problems and it makes it worse when you are in a relegation fight but its a period you hope you get through and come back stronger. Everybody is entitled to complain and moan its not a crime, the season is nearly over lets hope we get a big lift and win at some game none of us thought we would, the sooner the better

Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed it, I still do, and sure we weren't always utter crap, but there was never really any expectations either.

I think you are confusing being bored with being crap. You also make an assumption people who are bored now didn't watch City in the lower divisions. There is always hope in the lower leagues to rise up through them. A few years of bottom six or seven in the premier league will soon wear thin as the club will never get into the top seven or eight. I want us to be in the top league but it is...boring.

What I don't like about the last 8 years or so is how people have developed overhigh expectations of our players now, we are still Hull City AFC who have spent all but 4 years in the lower leagues after all. If we go down I don't know how some of them are going to adjust to seeing the likes of Aluko and others who come in for stick playing on a regular basis

well everyone to there own but surely playing against the best and trying to beat them is the aim, look at palace last night beating man city what an hign there fans were on. to me fighting relagation is as big a battle as fighting promotion.

Hard to disagree with any of that.

Meh, what's their aim every year - a decent cup run? They'll never make top 6 and at the moment never look like being bottom 6. Boring as **** if you ask me.

Who says they can't finish Top 6? Newcastle, Villa, Southampton and others have had that capability in recent years.

Mike Ashley realises this and is at least going to make some coin in the process. Competitive sport is a bit naff when it's not competitive. 24 May 2008 was so special because it was the pinnacle of what the club can hope to achieve (ok, last May would have topped it). Apart from weekly bragging rights, potential cup success is the only opportunity for the club to achieve anything notable in the top flight but it means watching the second XI get lucky several times consecutively.

You've just named 3 clubs with lengthy recent top flight records. Villa and Newcastle came 2nd in the Premier League if my memory serves me right, the former have won the European Cup. I'd say they're really big clubs who have hit upon recent hard times rather than Swansea being a perennial lower league club who are in recent good times.

Let's all go follow Man United or Chelsea then since Hull won't ever amount to much.

How am I? I never at any stage said anything remotely along the lines of changing the team that you support to one that wins. If anything I'm making a case for the exact opposite - get relegated now and again cos it's more fun to see the team you support actually win some games.

The point I was, I thought clearly, making was being mid-table every season is boring. I'd rather be in our position than come 7 to 14th every single season.

And if we get relegated and start to win again you'd be hoping that we lose just enough so that we don't get promoted again?
