Gardening and the Vic.... see there is a connection we are not all potty They are growing loads of grass http://www.watfordfc.com/news/article/130613-pitch-update-864853.aspx Seriously though... very interesting...
Too many Yorkie? Try eating them. This recipe is great on any warm bread/rolls. Take bloomed flowers, remove stamens inside, gently rinse in cool water, air dry on paper towels. When dry, chop up and mix with softened butter and honey.
New David Austin rose catalogue arrived today.... I love the variety of old and new roses they have. Prices shot up on recent years http://www.davidaustinroses.com/english/Advanced.asp
Just spent an hour up a step ladder pruning the bits of the plum tree that are heading for the clouds. I have extendable loppers but I could do with extendable arms too.. There does seem to be plenty of fruit on the tree this year...
Yes apparently the lack of frosts after a wet spring spells good news Mind you we had so many cooking apples last year.....
Like most gardeners I end up with loads of spare plants. Anyone got any ideas on how or where I could sell them for a few bob? Is there an eBay specifically for plants?
Trestle table and honesty box out front would probably be your best bet.......seriously. There are plenty of folks selling this way round this part of the country.
On the way into town there is a field of Gladioli ? that people are invited to go into and cut some flowers. No one is near the field, just a box to put your money into and a notice suggesting what would be a suitable cost. It has operated for several years so must be a worthwhile operation. A friend from England thought that where he lived the flowers would disappear en-mass overnight and turn up at his local market next day.
Similar story up here - there are plenty of farms where produce is left by the main road next to an honesty box. A Sunday drive through the countryside to pick up eggs/veg can be far more enjoyable than a trip to the supermarket. One smallholding near here even have pet rabbits for sale, leaving them in hutches just off the road, next to the honesty box. It's a different world really, living in the country.
Thanks all. I will try the honesty box thing but will have to advertise as I live in a small cul de sac on an estate which nobody can find! Back to the garlic theme, mine have produced flower buds, what to do? Pull em off? Time to dig em up? The bulbs are not very big.
