£60-80m for a player who wasn't really on any radars until October seems far too much. Could just as easily be a case of avoiding the next Pepe.
A West Ham striker target. Starts to make me wonder whether he would be the right choice after all given what happens to the strikers they usually sign. Crazy that they can spend circa 35m on a striker in the summer, not be able to get the best out of him, then never play him and then just buy another one (because they seem like they will get one whether it is Moffi or not). That free stadium really does dope their finances substantially doesn't it?
Not sure who the source is. 4 in would be great as long as one is a striker. Wonder what the 4 would be? Based on links ST, RB and CB? Not sure on the 4th. There have been a few more winger links but DM is probably a bigger need. Indeed if we brought in ST, RB, CB and DM I’d send be sending back AMN if it is possible
Rasmus said that saints fans are in for a couple of exciting weeks? And some exciting announcements to come?
From the interview with Solent? 'People are going to see that we have some really exciting announcements in the next few weeks - on the football side and the commercial side - in terms of people we are going to bring in who can really help to move the club forward.' So sounds like hopefully further signings and sorting out some of the holes left by the departures higher up in the club, though expect that will be taking a back seat until the end of the transfer window. Both of which are expected and necessary. Don't think he was necessarily saying we will be excited by a particular signing as such.
Jones wants him to sign a new contract because of his versatility in playing anywhere Jones wants him to play and also because he has been playing through the pain barrier.
Alfie House, the Echo Reporter said he didn't think that the Ings interest was completely dead in the water or words to that effect on the latest TSP and thinks there is genuinely a chance that that could happen. Don't think he is particularly ITK but will presumably have a better feel for whats going on than most of us. Ings has made as many appearances (don't know the difference in minutes played but Ings goals per minute ratio is far far far better than Watkins) for Villa this season as Watkins (who just picked up an injury I believe, no idea how bad), and is their top scorer so I would be surprised if Villa were happy to let him go even though the view from the outside is that he is very much a backup there.
I suspect Villa will want another striker before they let Ings go. Duran is only 19 and more for the future I suspect. But I do think they want to sell Ings to get his wages off the books.
