Doku is an interesting one, no doubt an exciting and promising player but don’t think he’s kicked on as well as he was set out to when he joins Rennes. Don’t particularly think he’s a player we need as well.

Although us potentially buying him would’ve been laughed at a year ago, so there is a player in there.

@BackFromBeyond I think Terrier has done his ACL. Very unfortunate as he’s fantastic.

What, buying young players? You are aware Doku has made 88 senior appearances between Anderlecht and Rennes? And has 12 Belgium caps?

 

I remember reading that he was having emotional/mental health challenges while he was here.

 

Doku >>>>>>>>> Moi/Theo/Moussa etc.

 

And Sekou Mara has almost 50 appearances for Bordeaux and Saints.

 

I had assumed that the only attacking player we would still be after would be a striker. We already have Orsic in and Alvarez on the way. I appreciate our other attacking options are generally poor, but not sure we would need another this window unless we are anticipating some of our current lot out this window too. What we do need still is a striker and a DM and possibly a CB too depending on ABK.

 

With 0 international caps. Surely the fact he's been capped by Belgium tells you something about his talent? This window we've signed 30 year old Orsic, pretty much signed Alcaraz who's played 83 times in the Argentina's top division and is still only 20 and linked with Doku, who has played a lot of top flight games for a 20 year old. A lot of the players we signed in the summer had hardly played a single senior game apart from ABK, Mara and Aribo. Yes, we're still signing young players, but we're signing more experienced young players. Plus Orsic, who's very experienced. We're looking at the short term as well as the long term in this window.

 

Doku hasn't even started a league game for Rennes this season. Just warms the bench every week.

Very excited about Orsic though, and warming to Alcaraz.

 

Yep, there is no escape from Alcaraz, he will be good.

 

Otherwise he'll get the bird man.
