So much for all the tosh about these wonderful Pompey fans.
After Southampton scored it was like watching a match in the cemetery.
We obviously should have won the game & I am certain we will whip you convingly in the return - always assuring PFC still exists by next April.
Incidently, having watched a couple of short interniews with your manager, it is a pretty safe bet that he didn,t go Oxford or Cambridge!

It was muted for a short while I grant you - but we came back ok. Was sorry not to be able to hear the bugle though 'cos that always makes me laugh.
 
edit didn,t mate there are grammar nazi's about and given the content of that sentence you have left yourself wide open for the inevitable.

Wow saintsalive, how "convingly" do you think Saints will do in the return match ? <laugh>

I think it's a pretty safe bet to say that you bunked off school during the English lessons, didn't you, you little tinker !

Do be careful how you handle your next job "interniew" won't you.

It wasn't you was it that set off the flares during the match ?
 
I think saintsalive is just a little peeeeeeved that the fratton faithful were so vocal, its been a while since most of them have been to ours in the league, and he was obviously not born for their last trouncing..........apart from a 10 min lull when they scored their (has to be said) badly defended goal, we were pretty much on top of the vocals.........

Already looking forward to the return shift, BP

OP... perhaps it was after the first goal, but were you at St. fairies last year? Because it was exactly the same with your support... so shush...

I think at any football ground around the country, the home support goes quiet after conceding, at least for a while.... St Marys, Fratton Park, Upton Park, Vicarage Road, Villa Park, etc
 
Well well well . Were we watching the same match or are you by any chance from another planet ? I watched the game live on satellite from Malta and judging by what I saw and heard the Pompey were in full voice nearly throughout the whole 90 minutes . The home fans are bound to go a bit quiet if they go 1 down , even if you go to places like Newcastle , Manchester or any of the big teams . Which brings me to the subject of the Saints fans . Where there any ? Cos if they ever turned up I certainly didnt hear them . You certainly have to try much much harder to keep up with the Pompey fans when it comes to support and atmosphere . Yes , we are still the best fans in the world my good friend . I know you do not like what you hear , but just as you have to accept that we all have to kick the bucket at some stage , you have to accept that we are better supporters and more reknowned for being famous than you lot . Ciaow for now .
 
Did anyone else notice that the BBC cameras eventually refrained from zooming in on the crowd, due presumably to the large number of middle-aged men making "w****r gestures and distorting their faces with hate?

RLGB were you there ?? We were not outsung most of the time at all - have heard that it came over that way on the box but suspect that was due to mic placing issues etc because both sets of fans gave it large, an absolutely electric atmosphere, don't agree with the OP. Agree that away points are always welcome

When saints scored, there was an immediate response of pup but then went very quiet from the blue faithful until the equaliser when hostilities were resumed but that's the nature of it, goals change games
 
Watched it around a mates house.

Pompey sounded very loud throughout and only when we scored and up until Pompey equalised that as the only time I really heard the Saints fans clearly <ok>

Whoever outsung who, the atmosphere sounded electric!
 
Agree that Saints fans very vociferous throughout the match, except following our equalizing goal, when they went very quiet. So quiet in fact, that I had to turn to look over at the Milton End Stand, as I was wondering if a fire alarm had gone off that end of the ground, leading to a mass exit of Saints fans :1980_boogie_down:
 
Ha ha! Great read. Stoke's fans are quality and their opinion counts. <ok>

The 'away' following was not as vocal as I expected for over 3000 ladies present. When the Forest or Watford came down last season, they were a lot louder as they all sang as one. Yesterday there were little pockets of vociferous ladies not making much of an impact on the telly from what I've been told. Having been there, in the North Lower, I have to agree.
