Andy Burnham was elected to parliament by the voters in his constituency.
Just like every other MP including the present Prime Minister - and every other previous Prime Minister.
So he has the same mandate to be Prime Minister as anybody else - provided that he is properly elected as leader of the Labour Party given that they are in government presently.
So why are there claims that there should be a General Election “because he hasn’t been elected as Prime Minister “?
If he does become Prime Minister, it will be exactly because he has been elected.
Agreeing or disagreeing with his views doesn’t alter that.

As has been pointed out: half of Deform's MPs don't have a mandate as they were elected under the Tory banner

For some reason the waffling gargoyle hates when this is brought up...

So my daughter is back from university and was banging on, ten to the dozen, for about an hour during the Bosnia v Qatar match :confused:about Palestine and religion (inter alia).
We decided that to avoid being incarcerated for terrorism, we would create our own activist group called Palestine Action Man so we could object to genocide in Gaza by waving Action Men dressed in thobes in thee air.
And those with Palestine Action T-shirts and placards (often meek, elderly women) could avoid terrorism laws by simply writing the word “man” in marker pen underneath
Just a thought.
But she did raise a very good point about religion. If there is a God, what was he thinking with the dinosaurs? Makes no sense.

I wonder if any Chileans living over here have been deported because they support Deportivo Palestino

After £370M was spent renovating Buckingham Palace, the King isn’t even going to live there.
But the Royal Family are great for this country. Don’t ever forget that.
They bring in revenue. Nowhere near as much as we spend on them, but let’s not allow minor details to get in the way<doh>

Reactions: Left on the Shelf
I visited my mother in law today, who has GB News on a loop. It’s a must watch<doh>
Apparently, there is no other news in the U.K. apart from hoards of immigrants invading us.
Even the main news channels have indoctrinated us with the view that seeking asylum is both illegal and morally wrong and the real issue is who is doing what to prevent it.
GB News takes it to another level. They love to interview locals near asylum hotels and detention centres and get their views.
It’s not fair on communities near to where asylum seekers are housed because:
a) they don’t understand our culture (10 pints followed by a kebab not on their agenda?)
b) our children are at risk (but not from Uncle Barry who comes round with a bottle of vodka when mum and dad are on lash, eh? How many sexual offences are committed by white men known to their victims?)
c) they don’t work (they can’t), don’t integrate (they can’t) and get loads of money which we should get (trying living off £50 pw)
d) they don’t speak English (like what you don’t despite living here all your life)
e) they are all criminals (how do you know? Are there any in your community, by chance?)
f) why can’t they be sent to some deserted island in the South Atlantic owned by the U.K? (because it would be extremely expensive to transport them there and keep them somewhere with no infrastructure or resources)
Propaganda is just what it used to be.
People don’t change.
Hitler could rise again.

They have managed to convince a sizeable part of our population.

Similarly, if you use Not Internet Explorer (or for that matter log out of your Outlook account) you're bombarded with Express or GerbilBotherer News ragebait and so much boomerslop about how every generation after them is wrong

What makes this particularly odd is that, according to YouGov, boomers tend to have AOL accounts while people in their late 30s-mid 40s have Hotmail accounts as that's the one they signed up for when they were in their teens, so why the MSN infrastructure is coded to the GorillaBelch News audience is very strange...and yet another reason the social media ban for under-16s is missing the point entirely given the online indoctrination is mainly aimed at people who remember watching new episodes of The Sweeney as a kid

Anybody ready for a rant about the social contract being a thing of the past?

Nobody saying otherwise? Well then...

Earlier today I found somebody's Revolut card on the pavement, so being the good samaritan I picked it up thinking I could contact Revolut to say, hey, found this bloke's card can I send it to you blah-de-blah?

...and it turns out that I can't actually do that, as Revolute expect me to download their app to report somebody else's card missing, which is utterly ****ing insane

Just a reminder, if it was somebody's Barclays/HSBC/Lloyds card I could have walked into a branch and handed it over within 5-10 minutes of finding it and maybe help the guy out, but Revolut are being remarkably unhelpful

Add this to the pile of complaints about how we technically don't own anything this decade...
