So anti-vaxxer Eric Clapton has written a song complaining about being forced to take the COVID vaccine.
That's the same 'Eric Clapton' who spent 20 years of his life...(checks notes) injecting heroin! <doh>

Eric Clapton was a prime reason that Rock against racism was formed when I was a small boy in primary school.
His racism was part of the reason grown arsed scum adults thought calling a 9 Yr old child a "dirty paki" as he walked to school or sat on a bus or played in a park was OK...they taught their kids to make "Paki jokes" and be as abusive as possible.

And while good people from all walks of life stood up to that racism his encouragement of race hate scared and scarred many young kids.

Others (like Bowie) tried to make amends ... in the 1980s he publicly said he wished he'd never said **** about supporting the National Front and fascism and actively campaigned against fascism...he even become a very early public supporter of the Anti Nazi League when it reformed in 1992.

People's views can change so I try to never hold their past attitudes and actions over people's present ones.

    Clapton made no such change.

That's my long winded way of saying that Clapton is a **** and was a **** and will always be a ****...hope he dies a ****ing hateful painful death.

I reported his "song" on twitter yesterday, hopefully it'll get him banned for spreading dangerous nonsense. He does have an extenuating circumstance here. He took the vaccine and had a really strong reaction to it. He even believed at one stage that he wouldn't be able to play any more. Learned the wrong lesson for me, but it is not black and white.

Actually agree with the thrust of this. He is a vile man. It's not quite true though that he has never repented. He said some really vile racist **** on stage, all done while out of his head on alcohol. In vino veritas I think. But he has expressed sorrow and regret, claiming it was the drink talking. Not satisfactory but for a full picture, needs to be remembered.
Also he was very good friends with George Harrison, allegedly one of the kindest, gentlest men you could have met. It doesn't square with me that he would have stayed friends with someone of such ugly views.

Not being a Rock fan I was unaware of Clapton's views. The man is obviously a moron and there he is having made his career based on the Blues. The combination of African and European music melded together produced the music that became Blues Jazz and Rock & Roll Words fail me.

Kind people can be more forgiving ... Tony Benn spoke warmly about Enoch Powell upon his death while opposing his foul views. Obviously a much kinder and forgiving man than me cos I had a beer when Powell died cos he was a massive driving force in bring our parents here in the 50s and 60s and then setting his racist dogs on us.

I always thought Clapton made noises to protect his record sales tbh...a bit like today's musical racist **** Morrisey.

The 1970s were ****ing horrible if you were on the receiving end of that vile racism and the fascism of the NF ... thank **** for the anti racists and anti fascists who stood up to be counted.

can't speak for others but for me those people stopped me seeing all white people as racists...they made me see hope and believe that you could fight back rather than sit back and take the abuse.

rightly or wrongly I see Clapton very differently than Bowie...and think the cosmos took the wrong one of the two a few years back.

Please don't take this at a dig (I know it reads as angry) ... am just explaining my venom towards him rather than trying to pick a row <ok>

I do not take it as a dig at all and if it was then I know I explained myself badly. I hope I made it clear that I agreed with what you said. The man is vermin. Even in my Harrison example, Clapton slept with Harrison's wife and eventually took her away from him. And then treated her like ****. He is also one of the most boring men on the planet. I do believe that drink and drugs have screwed him up so much, that the true man is unknowable. Whoever that might be. I also have a lot of sympathy for him due to tragedies he has endured.

I always find it even more shocking when you come across racist musicians. There is very little music from the 20th & 21st centuries that does not rely on the mixing and blending of human beings across the world. We would not have this music if people had not travelled and for some it was forced travel as slaves. Both the Stones and the Beatles acknowledged where the masters of their music were and introduced many in the US to their own heritage. American Black musicians are in my view the greatest contributors to world music in the twentieth century. Duke Ellington is the Beethoven of the 20th Century. Their contribution is still not properly acknowledged by a largely white culture.

Little wonder he had a reaction....
I can't imagine that the rigorous testing of the vaccine went as far as 'wonder what will happen when we mix it with blood that's 20% alcohol, 20% Heroin, 10% cocaine and 50% racist bile....?' <laugh>
