Julian Richer has just handed the company and money in bonuses to the employees, we need more of these employers to shame the Phillip Greens of this world, on a plus note Green has lost half of his fortune
For those of you that think the BBC has gone all right wing these days, but are still relying on it for "news", what is your opinion about the huge campaign by veterans in support of Soldier F?* Many do not have much of an opinion due to the almost total lack of reporting of the various marches in support. The huge recent march in London on Good Friday for example got minimal coverage compared to say the climate protests. Many veterans are incensed by this lack of coverage, and are becoming politicised. Needless to say this is not a good thing! * And the 150+ former members of the armed forces and police who are under investigation for actions during the troubles (all while many PIRA members have been pardoned due to the Good Friday agreement).
Penny Mourdant is introducing a bill to say that ex soldiers cannot be prosecuted after 10 year except in 'exceptional circumstances', however Northern Ireland is excluded. Give then sh!te on Twitter and by email to include every soldier, including those who served in NI, and to say 'Exceptional Circumstances' has to be proven in front of a Jury before a prosecution can be brought.
A bit off topic, but I was just listening to her talking about the Royal Navy and she gave me no confidence that she had any idea of what she was talking about. Yes the military is (overly) technical these days, but the disconnect between how she was saying what she was reading out and someone who appears to understand what they are saying was palpable.
Brief check: was she aware the navy is the one with the ships (well, in theory...) and not the men in bright red uniforms riding horses through Montreal?
This just smacks of the "rules for thee, but not for me" hypocrisy that infests much of society (politics in particular) . So here we are effectively saying that soldiers that operated in NI are being "held to a higher standard" than their then antagonists, open to scrutiny for a far longer period, and subject to worse criminal punishment if convicted.
I have no idea why the voters in Highworth Parish are taking legal action in order to have a recount for their local election, as everything is clearly above board here... please log in to view this image
The Tory candidates all got given an additional 2,500 votes or thereabouts, apparently. Those in charge intended to sort it out in the morning, then realised that this was impossible after they'd announced it. ****ing morons.
The right wing couldn't give a **** about individual soldiers, for the most part. They're treated as an expendable resource, like the rest of us.
Not true: the far right love to bang on about the Second World War, apparently unaware that their side lost
I detest the 'pendulum extremes' that occurs with legislation like this. Ensuring pregnancy termination is not some "commodity" procedure (such as lancing a boil or removing an ingrown nail) for the convenience of the stupid, should be the primary aim of such legislation (and by my reckoning that only includes three primary cases) .
Of course the BBC would never stoop so low as to have programming like The Jeremy Kyle Show Anyway, tonight on Question Time we have a bunch of far-right activists bused in so they can yell at tonight's panelist Diane Abbott...
As the beleaguered PM continues her struggle to be free of the EU by going back to the Commons for a fourth vote on her proposal, while simultaneously denying the nation the opportunity to hold a second referendum now that they/we’ve seen what leaving the EU involves and how the future looks in far better detail, I was, for some obscure reason (irony!) reminded of this Paul Simon classic…… Hope this brings a smile in these fraught and divisive days, whatever your viewpoint. "50 Days to Leave The EU" "The problem is all inside her head" Tusk said to me. "The answer is easy if you Take it logically. We'd like to help her in her struggle To be free - There must be fifty dates To leave the EU." He said, "These twenty-seven Countries won’t intrude. Furthermore, I hope our purpose Won't be seen as rather rude. But I'll repeat our view, Though I know it might get skewed: There must be fifty dates To leave the EU - Fifty dates to leave the EU!" You just think up a wheeze, T’rese. Do what she says, Jez. You’ve made a mistake, Jake - Like the DUP! [Keep dropping those hints, Vince, And you’ll start to convince!] You big it up large, F’rage, Just to get on TV! March twenty-nine? Gone, John! And April twelve? Shelved! Then twenty-two May(Day!)? Just not meant to be. It’s getting too late, Kate! There’ll be new MEPs (geez!). We won’t accept June (too soon), Hallowe’en it must be!” He said, "It grieves me so To see her in such pain - Not helped by Boris who is Spouting tosh again!" [I said, "Please understand: I voted to remain! Forget the fifty dates!"] He said, "Why don't we all Just sleep on it tonight, And I suggest, in the autumn, Vote again to put it right." [And then she stepped down, And I realized she’d fin’lly got it right! She’d missed those 50 dates To leave the EU - Far too late to leave the EU!] You just think up a wheeze, T’rese. etc March twenty-nine? Gone, John! etc
