The world has a 1930s feel at present with extremists in power in nations with great military capability - Trump, Putin, Kim Jong-un....
And that's without considering all the nutters in the Middle East.
I wouldn't bother increasing your pension contributions.

Those same supporters are saying that "never again" should America have to endure the tyrrany of the Obama Era.

Frankly a couple of hundred hardcore Trumpists should be sent to live in Saudi Arabia for six months to learn what it;s like to actually live in an oppressed society - but then again they'd probably love it, given Saudi Arabia is noted for not bending to the whims of the human rights brigade, havign a lack of PC do-gooders or SJWs, and women do what they're goddamn told.

Trump's solution to the devastation caused by Hurricane Harvey: $40 baseball caps.

Who wants to guess how much of that $40 actually goes to the relief effort?

As much as the Trumpists will try and deny it (or change the subject rather than try to deny it, since they're not particularly good with answering direct questions) it's impossible to ignore the fact that both Obama and even Dubyuh didn't think it was a good idea to use the same rhetoric as North Korea and the situation remained off the boil through two generations of the Kim dynasty, yet when Trump comes barrelling in not only matching the rhetoric but threatening nuclear annihilation it leads to North Korea rapidly upscaling their nuclear arms race.

You'd think that, as a "successful" businessman, Trump would be able to see when somebody was sabre-rattling and any response to it would only empower them - but apparently he hasn't.

    Of course.

However his ego is so fragile that when faced with a
"d*ck measuring" contest, he cannot bear that others
    are thinking his the tiniest.

I am not condoning Trump's rhetoric re North Korea, in fact it is far from helpful. However you could easily argue that a more softly softly approach has allowed them to get into the situation where they have been able to develop nuclear capability. In other words, it's now too late for that sort of response. One can't help thinking that the second it looks like the Iranians have developed nuclear capability the Israelis would be in there and blow it to bits. I think the Iranians know that, so perhaps there was an earlier missed opportunity to rein in the North Koreans and successive US administrations missed it, or took the easier route.

I don't think any sane pro or anti-Trumpers will realistically believe that North Korea's nuclear capabilities have only just materialised since last November. The fact is, they have been building a network of underground research and development facilities for many years now so to lay the blame at Trumps door entirely is somewhat shortsighted.

Previous administrations had numerous chances to deal with the situation and didn't. In fact, the situation kind of reminds me of a certain scene in a very funny movie...

Fact is, the past approach had little effect in stopping them get to where they are now so I can't see how the same rhetorical approach is going to work in the future and the NK administration knows this. Problem is, Trump's mouth goes before his brain so is light of the fact NK is nearing it's end game, he's not the ideal person to have in charge at such a pivotal moment in geopolitical history.

Maybe they should send Dennis Rodman as a US diplomat.

Since you won't see it anywhere else, here is the e-mail that journalist and leader of the CLEAR Cannabis Reform group Peter Reynolds sent when explaining his decision to leave the Tory party last week...

    From: Peter Reynolds
    Sent: 31 August 2017 11:20
    To: ‘Chris Loder’
Cc: ‘LETWIN, Oliver’ ; ‘Antony Stanley’
Subject: My resignation from the Conservative Party

    Dear Chris,

After the disastrous handling of the EU referendum result, the ludicrous decision to appoint one of the most incompetent and out-of-touch ministers as prime minister and her farcical election performance, I have been wrestling for some time as to whether to renew my membership. The Conservative Party is now far divorced from its fundamental principles of liberty and small government and Mrs May is an authoritarian bigot stuck in some 1950s delusion of what Britain is today.

Following her ridiculous announcement last night that she intends to stay on as leader I am now tendering my resignation forthwith. She has no mandate, no respect and in my view is held in utter contempt throughout the country. It is also self-evident that all other minsters are too weak, cowardly and neurotic about their own jobs to do anything to stop her.

Mrs May failed consistently over six years at the Home Office. She is a Remainer and should never have been permitted to lead the party or the country after the referendum result. Mrs May and all ministers failed entirely to plan for a leave vote and they have dithered, waffled, dodged and tripped up again and again, achieving absolutely nothing in the period since the result.

Brexit was a huge opportunity for the UK but the Conservative Party has wrecked it and damaged Britain irreparably in the process. If I had my way Mrs May would be led in chains out of Downing Street and placed in stocks in Parliament Square to endure the humiliation she so richly deserves.

I refer you to my article ‘Has There Ever Been A Worse UK Government Than This?’ which has produced the biggest response to anything I have ever written about politics in more than 30 years of journalism. It well sums up the tragic and diminished state in which she leaves our country.

    https://peterreynolds.wordpress.com/2017/08/06/has-there-ever-been-a-worse-uk-government-than-this/

    Yours sincerely,

    Peter Reynolds

So having spent over a year hearing how important Britait is to the whole of the EU and how it will dominate their agenda as much as ours, how long do you think was devoted to the subject in the German leader's debate between Angela Merkel and and Martin Schultz? If your guess was one second or more, you'd be wrong.

Closer to home, I have to ask: if Prince Harry and Meghan Markle get married, would that make UKTV are guilty of treason for dropping Suits from their schedules? It bloody better be!
