The problem is that did happen under a Labour government, quite often between 1997-2007 IIRC Starmer's biggest problem...one of Starmer's biggest problems is he unwittingly creates self-fulfilling prophecies, so if he's dumb enough to read McSweeney's script saying the next election will be Labour vs Reform he's going to make that happen because he talked them up as the main rival for something that won't happen for 3-4 years - which also suggests he and his team learned zero lessons from the Democrats managing to piss away last year's election
