That's what I mean. PR may be fairer and even a desirable system, but it won't fix things right now.

Youtube's algorithm pushes a bunch of divisive, damaging bullshit.
There have been various studies in recent years demonstrating it.
Those controlling social media platforms have enormous power and they're abusing it.

One of Reform's new MPs is Rupert Lowe, the former Southampton chairman.
He was a big rugby fan, which probably says it all. ****ing Rupert.

James Timpson is a very interesting appointment as prisons minister. He's actually knowledgeable and passionate on the topic and comes with fresh thinking and ideas.

The last such appointment if that sort was the late Frank Field, in Blair's first cabinet. Hopefully, Timpson lasts a bit longer!

I think Labour's approach to ministerial appointments has surprised everyone.
Richard Hermer as AG is another one that seems logical, but came out of the blue.
Patrick Vallance is the other apparently sensible oddity.

It'll be interesting to see how they work out.
Picking people with knowledge of the appropriate subject seems like a no-brainer, though.

I was delighted to see this appointment. Shows a really creative approach to Government and a huge change to the status quo. Mind you, I'm already a big fan of Timpson and their business which has been a beacon of hope for the last few years. :emoticon-0148-yes:

Of course but it's quite easy to select what you watch. Everything is on you tube it's up to you to decide what has integrity . There are plenty of great people on you tube. This is not facebook

Totally agree with this. And without acting like a Government of National Unity, you would hope that Starmer might seek the input of other political 'experts' like Ed Davey on Social Care. :emoticon-0148-yes:

Tiktok was proven to be pushing Farage/Refom content to young people.

Facebook has been spamming the elderly with Reform content.

Twitter was spammed by russian bots pushing Reform voting.

If you think that has no impact you're very very wrong.

I am talking about You Tube where I select the content. Otherwise all media including social media requires the user to exercise discrimination. I use twitter and you have to select what you want to take note of. The others I don't use. The manipulaton of the media has always gone on we don't need the Russians to tell us how to do that Britain is the master. The internet has given us the ability to look beyond MSM for the first time so it's not surprising that the powers will try to rubbish what they cannot control.
You have just shown your own suseptabilty by not reading my posts properly and jumping to a false conclusion, but of course I agree with the direction of your comment.

    Youtube certainly pushes content, too

The most obvious example, my news feed is The Sun, GorillaBelch News and TalkbollocksTV - and that can't be curated as it's a hell of a lot harder to block those channels compared to someone like the Paul spawn

And various studies have found it pushing right wing and religious content

Be right back, got the sudden urge to watch three hbomberguy videos at once

God knows why I bothered, but watched the gruesome Kuntsberg this morning.
Good to see her holding @Labour MP Jonathan Reynolds to account for not fixing the UK's problems in the first 48 hours! <doh>

Seriously though, both he and Andy Burnham demonstrated that the grownups may be back in control. Whether or not anything changes / improves is another matter, but at least there's some hope.

And at least, when they roll out Jenrick and the awful Victoria Atkins as potential future Tory leaders, then it looks like the new Government will not have to face a serious Opposition for some time! <laugh>

How about inviting a few of them on Question Time to see if they turn up

The big problem for Larry is that the Starmers have a cat (called JoJo). There’s going to be some fur flying, although I wouldn’t bet against Larry.

I recall Larry beat up another of the Downing Street cats

Then again, it wouldn't surprise me if his successor was already in the wings, given he's been in the job 13 years
