Just when you though Apartheid Clyde couldn't be more of a waste of blood and organs, it is now part of the legal record that he had a second Twitter account to say how brilliant he was - or act like a creepy little turd
The most notable legacy of this Tory government will be its erosion of individual rights and entitlement to services. With the support of the right wing media, they have promoted the view that “human rights” and “civil liberties”are undesirable. More than that, they have successfully convinced people that basic rights such as protection from torture, right to a fair trial, right to enjoyment of family life etc are extreme left wing policies which are preventing government from operating effectively. The net result is that this government has been able to stamp on the rights of ordinary people - like you and me. You can’t protest, you can’t speak out; large public organisations and private companies can’t be held to account. Organisations like the Post Office and water companies are richly rewarded for being completely dysfunctional. Huge profits are the rewards for laziness, indifference, complacency and corruption. Access to the courts is for the rich only; ombudsmen have no real power and it takes an inordinate amount of time and endurance to get through the process. Government departments are inaccessible unless you have endless time to hang on the phone - with little chance you will get the response you desire at the end of it. You can’t expect a satisfactory or timely response if you are ill or the victim of a crime. Criminals run amok without fear. Your chances of survival if you need emergency care are about the same as they were in 1850. You pay taxes nationally and locally for services that aren’t delivered. For example, what happens to road tax given the state of our roads? Council taxes go up and up while they do less and less. We are all screwed over time and time again and can do nothing about it. And it will decades to reverse these problems - if that is ever going to be possible before climate change wipes us all out.
Yes thanks PNP for your wind up attempt. It's not surprising that the SNP have lost ground with the onslaught from the media and in particular BBC Scotland who are acting as an agent for Labour. The bogus investigations into Sturgeon which the establishment appears to be prolonging to further damage the SNP. Despite all of this (and probably the reason for this campaign) support for Scottish Independence continues to grow. Support has increased (in polls) by 7 - 8 % since the referendum and the SNP still leads in Holyrood polls which for Scotland is far more important than the Westminster vote. So **** you
Also the really desperate headline I saw the other day: Humza Yusaf's brother in law charged with extortion And...? It's not like he set fire to a pet shop in Brighton like certain people I could name please log in to view this image
It doesn't matter who you vote for. That's individual choice and democratic right. But to not have the chance to vote is undemocratic. That is what the Government are trying to do for sections of the community - the majority of which will be from demographics that would likely not vote Tory. So if you know anyone who needs to get a photo ID then tell them and help them.
The SNP have lost ground because they're an utter shambles. Sturgeon leaving under a cloud has exposed the remaining leadership completely. Yousaf is alienating his own supporters with his own actions every day. The Tories being equally shambolic has also helped Labour. They now look like the only legitimate party for Unionists to vote for. We all know that whatever happens will still result in the SNP saying it's a vote for independence. They need to have a good look at who's available to lead the party after the election, in my opinion.
I posted that on this thread earlier. The SNP has scored some own goals but Sturgeon has frightened the establishment so major attacks have occurred. The fact these are very dubious will become apparent despite the media. I have yet to meet an SNP voter who is going to switch to Labour which suggests their increase in support in Scotland will be at the expense of the Tories which muddies the water in election. It could even result in more SNP MPs. Scotland has more horses in the race which makes predictions more difficult
The polling suggests that the SNP vote is down since Sturgeon's departure, though. They're not going to Alba, so perhaps they're just not intending to vote? Labour is up, while the Tories and Lib Dems are down. They may have just switched between them. The Conservative vote appears to have gone to Reform, though. UKIP and the Brexit Party didn't make a dent, so that's rather disappointing.
I think some recent controversy around the SNP and its leadership and dodgy finances has damaged their integrity in the eyes of many. And it seems unlikely that they can deliver independence any time soon - which is their raison d’etre. Many might feel it’s more sensible to lend their vote to a party which has more influence in Westminster, so Labour are likely to benefit from that given the state of the polls.
