I was hoping for Andy Burnham to have weighed in by now, but he's kept schtum

I think Burnham staying quiet is deliberate. Andy Street has publicly asked for Sunak to meet with all the mayors and private industry investors. Imo the mayors have collectively agreed for Street to be the public voice, because he's Conservative. If Burnham speaks up he's an easy target and an excuse for Sunak to blank it and alleviate the pressure on himself. Tbf the mayors regardless of the colour on their ribbon are united on this HS2.
I was actually referring to Burnham's specific role as PCCC for GMP and their overbearing policing at the Conference, not the HS2 issue. But he may well be trying not to cloud that issue.
They were waiting for him to say something. That guy from the left touches his arm before he's finished the sentence. They already expected him to speak up on this issue.
