The Tories were pushing 1,000 losses as an expectation, when it was really the worst case scenario. It now looks like they might actually beat that. Currently -903, according to the BBC, who have decided to talk about other things.
Being in Ireland, the default BBC News online page is the world site. At 3pm there was not even a link article to the UK local elections!
I live in the Vale of White Horse. The council now consists of 34 Lib Dems and 4 Greens. The last 6 Tories lost today.
Listening to Emily Thornberry trumpeting the 2 party system and Starmer failing to support PR makes me want to see the Greens and LibDems (less so) gain a foothold to be able to influence the next Government. Labour is an improvement on the corrupt cabale, but their policy direction doesn't fill me with great optimism.
The Tories don't control any of Oxfordshire's councils now. That's pretty remarkable. They have no councillors in Oxford or VoWH and only one in South Oxfordshire
Good news, although the equally dreadful Reform crowd have taken quite a few seats. It's like playing a fascists Whackamole.....
I believe I mentioned this a few months ago, when Private Eye gave a full boxout to him and his dodgy housing portfolio after Truss elevated him to his role of Deputy Grant Shapps
I'm only disappointed that she wasn't wearing her full Rear Admirals uniform and showing off all those battlefield medals.....
