Well I think if Thatcher delivered the sort of stuff you wanted she was visionary, decisive, full of character. If she did the reverse she was divisive, vindictive and nasty. Not much middle ground. No, make that no middle ground.

The 'Willy' was a brain slip sorry. There was a bloke on here called West London Willy who's opinions and style were identical to yours. He disappeared before you started posting, after a fight with my mate the almost as divisive as Thatcher Swords. Or perhaps the fight was with me, I don't remember. Got you mixed up for a second.

Think it's an age thing Stan!!!!!!!!<doh>

I may need to go look some posts up then - can't have you mistaking me for anyone who found Swords obnoxious...

So, after all the predictions by some on here that we were going to hell in a hand cart if we voted brexit and that we should all listen to "experts" like the IMF who were predicting a probable recession among other terrible things.
It now turns out that the IMF have predicted a higher growth forecast for the UK than both France and Germany next year. They now say a recession is very unlikely.
Also, FTSE closed above 6700 for the first time in 11 months and the pound rose against the dollar.
Listen to experts like the IMF?
You'd be better off asking MFI!!!!

And remember we're supposed to be at the back of the queue for trade deals with the US, whilst our former colonies are falling over themselves to do trade deals that were outlawed by the EU. All the 'Project Fear' bullsh*t was exactly that. The EU know they need us far more than we need them. Hopefully Mother Theresa will keep her promise of 'no going back'...

The Remain campaign may be found to have exaggerated - we don't know yet, and won't for some time. What we do know right now is that the Leave campaign were guilty of outright lies.

Here's our new Foreign Secretary making us all proud..........

I think these figures coming out now were compiled, for the most part, Pre-Brexit. I think its a little too early to see the results on the economy, give it 6 months to a year.

So we can believe the reverse of their more positive outlook, because they are incompetent and in the pocket of the EU. And 'experts' to boot!

I'm sticking to reading cats entrails for my insight into the future. Worked for Julius Caesar, must be something in it. Except for the assassination bit.

Thing is Col it's still early days but in the short term it seems all the famous experts are now saying nothing has changed. No WWIII, no emergency budget, no back of the queue, no deals with other countries? Even France and Germany seem happy to continue trading with us (as if they wouldn't.
Project fear and the 'doom and gloom' has failed. People moan about Brexit lies?
It seems to have gone quiet in many places :emoticon-0127-lipss
Many of the papers are running stories saying that we have a bright future outside the EU. More people holidaying in the UK. House prices up north rising. Trident with new jobs.
We will come across problems but as that lovely lady said on Sky business News "The UK is the best in many fields and people will always want to work with them".
So, is it our duty to do what we can in the world by picking on the despots that we can overthrow without starting WWIII whilst we schmooze with those we can't?
Not normally by military action imo. But there are exemptions. Like now when the world is faced with far more than a despot in any one country that can just be picked on.

Donald Trump pulling all the old populist tricks out of his wrinkled bag, a bunch of ready made enemies to blame for people's woes, unfair' treaties, immigrants, promises that are undeliverable about crime and violence, Clinton demonised.....scary stuff.

Donald Trump is a real concern.
An idiot without power is an idiot.
An idiot with power is dangerous.

The thought of having Trump, Putin, and Boris in place to tackle todays Terrorists is a nightmare.

Could be game, set & match .......... what a scary thought.
Hopefully, commonsense will prevail and normal services will resume.

I'm no expert Ellers, but I would have to agree that nothing has changed. We're still in the EU.
That is exactly what i have been saying. Until we leave, we can all speculate (all of us).
Did you catch May's conference with Hollande yesterday? She used a good tactic talking up our military as they all need our forces to help them, especially if something sinister kicked off.
She also put in a great line about people living in other countries saying if our citizens are okay, yours will be. The only time she looked a bit sheepish was the article 50 question. It would seem that we really do need to get good thinkers and businessmen on board.

I spoke to my US friend about this and was surprised about the amount of support he told me Trump has.
I said surely it's a joke, but he said people in the US are p'd off with Obama and don't like Clinton. <yikes>
This comes from one of the most liberal guys i know.

I'm over there working next week mate. I get the same message from my friends and colleagues over there, most of whom are middle of the road Republicans/Democrats. They are aghast at the prospect of Trump, but the level of mistrust and dislike towards Clinton is stunning. He has a genuine chance, because he just lets the personal stuff roll over him and people don't seem to care, whereas Clinton has a sackful of skeletons that they will take seriously. Clintons challenge is getting women, blacks and Hispanics out to vote. Everybody is saying it will be the nastiest campaign ever, putting the Referendum stuff, which I thought was disgraceful from both sides, into the shade.
