I wish that Mark Carney would shut up. Every time he opens his mouth the pound drops. I understand we all need to be realistic with this but he is so doom and gloom.

That off Camera conversation from SkyNews with Ken Clark and Malcom Rifkind is such a farce. It's just to stitch up the Brexit challenger's and put Teresa May in No 10. Listen to it. It is basically telling the public who to vote for. No other mundane conversation bar the candidates, it's virtually scripted.
Beginning to think a big stick up is coming

Mark Carney has a job to do, I'm afraid. It's to try and reduce the short term negative impact of the Brexit result on the UK economy. It's not a bright and sunny place for any of us. I think he's doing well given the circumstances. If he doesn't succeed, the short term impact may stick around a lot longer than anyone would like.

The Ken Clarke clip is amusing but irrelevant. His opinion doesn't matter any more. His time has passed.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but May looks like the best candidate for PM out of the four that are left (bye-bye, Liam). She's getting a lot of flak for refusing to guarantee residency rights for existing EU citizens already here at this stage, but that's how negotiation works. You don't give it away until you get something in return. We haven't invoked Article 50 yet, so there's no need to give away any negotiation points.

I don't think Leadsom expects to win, just to use the situation to get a better job afterwards. I don't think the country can afford any more winners who run away when their rhetoric has to be converted into action.

I think you have to remember re Leadsom, that while the majority of Tory MP's were Remain and may back May, the members of the Tory party who will vote on the last 2, were largely Leave and may back Leadsom

No, read the thread. I supported remain but from a couple of weeks out expected leave to win. It's not my prediction, it's polls of Tory party members.

May hasn't released her's either, but I can't be arsed to wiki her to see where she gets her dosh from. I would be very surprised if there is anything illegal in Leadsom's, but given her professional background I would also be very surprised if she isn't, let's say 'tax efficient'. Her husband and various relations have run a investment company, regularly renamed, for years. It used to offer offshore products now declared illegal. Leadsom's denied any knowledge but given her genuine expertise that's a little unlikely. She and her husband siphon off 25% of the profits from their buy to let business to trust funds for their kids - I have nothing against this concept, it's legal and makes sense if you have more cash than you can spend. And it's 'tax efficient'. But it's unlikely to play well with the leave voters of Tipton I was watching last night, and a semi decent opposition would make sure it's never forgotten.

One good thing about this is that it's made me determined to do my own tax return early this year, rather than wait until 25 January like I usually do, then storm around the house because I can't find all the paperwork.

There would be a certain irony if Leadsom's gets the job, given that she is clearly a member of the 'elites' and a genuine expert to boot.

Well, Tory members are funny characters and i should know. During the election they didn't go on social media or answer phone polls correctly but on the day they came out voted and got David Cameron a majority. The Tories are also known for not going with the favourite, ask Ken Clark. Many Tories i have listened and spoken to prefer Andrea as they think Teresa 'Deport' May was in the 'remain' camp and was head of immigration under Cameron which failed. She maybe favourite now but i see Andrea running it closer than people or polls think.

I find your 'tits up' comment strange? I don't understand why you think i would be concerned. I voted Out and my vote was a winner. Never realistically thought Boris would be PM and knew it would be difficult for a bit. I am just happy that it's not Labour in power as that would have been a nightmare with comedy Corby. The only thing that bugs me is my upcoming trip to France and the Euro going from 1.30 to 1.18.

Yep, off to Spain on Sunday, and my daughter spent every euro I gave her when she went to Cyprus last week bought at the good rates, now looking at less than €1 per £ tourist rates.

Yeah tourist rates are down and it's a selfish shame. However it wasn't that long ago £1 = E1 and we were in the EU.
Not cross just don't want to see a stitch up after the events of the last 2 weeks. For me, the country voted and their wishes should be carried through. I don't want to see political bed-hopping. Already seeing Crabb withdrawing for a cabinet job.
As for Chilcot, i am disgusted with the way Blair has lied. It saddens me that he will be getting off while families grieve for their loved ones. Enjoy Spain.

They're all politicians, therefore nothing should surprise you. All of them are prepared to shaft their 'friends' and lie on their backs to have their tummies tickled if it furthers their careers. May played a blinder keeping her own counsel throughout the campaign whilst the other 'big guns' generally lied, lied and lied some more before making themselves unelectable as leader.

When it comes to the crunch even the most principled politician has to weigh up whether their conscience is worth more than their career, conscience rarely wins...

Bit of a panic overnight, £ now down over 10% against €, that failing currency for the economic basket case of Europe, and a mere 18% against the $ since the day before Brexit. A 31 year low. The predicted $1.20 to the £ by the end of August looks easily achievable. Low or no economic growth in most of our export markets means the 'export dividend' may be limited.

Still it will be nice not to hear endless whines about how expensive everything is from my international colleagues when they visit the UK.

And another positive may be that we break this expectation that food should be cheap. We pay less of our income on food than any other developed nation. Given that 54% of our food is produced in the UK, 30% from the EU and the rest from elsewhere we know that nearly half will be more expensive. Hopefully the UK can produce more of its own food, there will be more incentive to if we pay more for it, and it will be more expensive to produce without cheap and productive EU labour.

Of course this will be a disaster for people on low incomes.

I know, doom and gloom, it's just short term 'turmoil', everything will be fine, keep calm and carry on.

Shame it turns out that her CV is 'misleading' and she didn't in fact manage billions of £s of investments after all, she did HR projects with no one reporting to her. Misled me alright. She is now the only remaining candidate not to have published her tax return.

Also a shame that the Tories appear to have learned nothing from the divisive and nasty Referendum campaign, this one being run in exactly the same spirit of self interest and '**** you buddy' rules. The sight of grey men with paunches high fiving and hugging each other on the green outside Parliament as they thought about the jobs they had been promised by May was sickening. These people are completely out of touch with reality, whoever wins isn't capable of negotiating their way out of a paper bag.

I am in a sensationally bad mood this morning with this crap, PPI texts and nuisance callers asking about 'your Windows computer' already. We are surrounded by fraudsters, con artists and crooks, no wonder we are so cynical.
