Well the UK could vote to leave the Emu today! I personally don't have any issues with Emu or Rod Hull (RIP)

How can a bird with a bloke and his hand up it's arse have any effect on how the UK is governed I will never know...?

Toot, I was just explaining what a dead heat was!!

And I'm sure if the difference was a few hundred or so there WOULD be a recount.

That's a fair shout and I had not given much thought to. What is the percentage of votes needed for the conclusion to this referendum? 1, 1k etc?

A massive thank you to Stan, rangercol, Chaz, Stroller et al for a magnificent debate.
Polls are now closed, let's hope the UK can unite now, go forward and show the way forward for Europe whatever the result.

Well said Danish. I would definetely give Goldy an honourable mention too. All the people you mention discussed the issue with passion and respect.

Yes, Goldy has had to try and come up with the answers that politicians have dodged and has represented his cause admirably.

If the whole campaign had been fought as keenly but with as much passion and integrity as on here then people wouldn't have lost so much (more) faith in the current generation of politicians.

This is going to be a huge result and I doubt anyone is confident of the outcome.

I forgot Tooting. Must respect to all the debaters who showed respect for other peoples opinion. Unfortunately, there were a handful who were a disgrace.

Can we change the title of this thread and keep it going
Been some good discussions
Maybe call it the discussion thread
Soon overtake the w a t

21,000 votes in it out of about 1.1 million. Leave edging it.

That's about my lot for the evening. My usual, less than enough sleep and then see what carnage awaits on the other side.

Night all.

Leave have won..
I expect there to be a number of domino effects now........I expect Camerons government to become unstable as it no longer commands any authorities, this can only result in a swing to the right, I fear how far right we may swing......
I expect both the break up of the Scotland England union, caused by Scotland objecting to being forced to leave Europe ..This may also eventually lead to the break up of Europe caused by other referendums...causing massive destabilization of the European union.

The people have spoken...and I for one really fear for the future

Got up an hour earlier this morning to see the main results coming in and it's a fascinating situation. Remain scoring massively in London and Scotland whereas Leave having massive results in the north especially. Seems to me it will depend how many actually turned out to vote in London that may well swing it one way or the other...
