Never been a huge fan of Julie Burchill, but have some sympathy for her after she’s ended up in a wheelchair, probably permanently, after a spinal infection and had attempted suicide. She wrote a very good column on it in the Sunday Times.

A rough ride. But, as she put it: “at least I’m not Rachel Reeves”.

The Trump government has issued a National Security Strategy that Putin's press secretary has described as 'largely consistent with our vision'. Further proof that Trump's US is aligned with Putin's Russia and would like to see the end of the European Union.

I find this bit particularly chilling...

American diplomacy should continue to stand up for genuine democracy, freedom of expression, and unapologetic celebrations of European nations’ individual character and history. America encourages its political allies in Europe to promote this revival of spirit, and the growing influence of patriotic European parties indeed gives cause for great optimism.

Seems the americans could start requiring you to give them access to the last five years of social media use to get entry
Some poor bastard in the state department is going to have to wade through all the **** I post
Might be worth planning a visit just to put them through it

Another horrendous, unforgivable, atrocity committed today in Sydney. It didn't happen in a vacuum, though. Netanyahu is culpable.

No, he isn’t. You can say a lot about him that’s been said a thousand times before but this was just good old-fashioned Jew hatred by a minority that has despised Jews for a long time. The only difference is now some people will, deep down, not mind so much as they think the victims to some extent had it coming. Like the UK, it would appear Australia’s authorities have got themselves into a situation from being at a point that they weren’t willing to confront the problem that they now can’t control it. It’ll happen again, the same MPs will tweet about their shock and sadness and the next day everyone in power goes back to normal.

In Amsterdam, hours later, the usual frothing Hamas fanatics tried to storm a Hanukkah event. Attacking on festival days is very on brand.

NHS dentistry services are of course virtually non existent in many places. The Government has decided that it should be rationed further to only serious and urgent cases, no more routine care ie check ups. This is the same kind of idiot short term £ driven nonsense that limits COVID and flu jabs to certain segments of the population and allows us to see hospitals fill up with those unnecessarily seriously ill. What few dentists do NHS work will soon be flooded with people who need their teeth out because they were never checked up.

So Trump is pressing ahead with his lawsuit against the BBC. 'They actually have me speaking with words that I never said', he claimed in a press conference. Well no, they just edited your actual words.

How about Sadiq Khan takes out a lawsuit against Trump, Musk et al for 'maliciously misrepresenting' him, and, more importantly, the city that he presides over. The greatest city in the World. Their portrayal of London as some kind of lawless hellhole is plainly ridiculous, but at the same time very damaging.
