This is just plain wrong. North Sea oil is extracted by private companies who sell it on the open International market. It's not 'ours', and stopping North Sea drilling won't have any impact on energy costs in the UK. Still, don't let the facts get in the way of you posting your Twitter mates' bullshit.

The revenue for the UK government in 2022/23 from taxes and licences for North Sea oil production was over £10 bn. That will decrease.

It's incredible out on day release from a secure unit for the mentally incapacitated, hard rocker, hip swinging Ded Silliiband has managed to secure a job in The British Government. He'll be playing music to windmills, singing to solar panels and stroking electric cars( not his own obviously, he doesn't have one) and recycling his own waste, in an effort to create a greener Britain.

'A complete fabrication': Government denies claims Ed Miliband has banned new North Sea oil licences (cityam.com)

No, Ed Miliband Has Not Banned Drilling For Oil In The North Sea (msn.com)

As previously stated, we will not issue new licences to explore new fields. We will also not revoke existing oil and gas licences and will manage existing fields for the entirety of their lifespan.

Amazing what you can find out in the real world.
