One question would be whether annual voluntary immigration should be capped, and then perhaps the figure. If it goes into the Tory manifesto, it'll concentrate minds at Labour HQ, as to what it put in its manifesto for legal immigration

In part, certainly. Ending unlimited free movement and controlling borders

I see Starmers is under pressure from his party to give EU citizens working in the UK, UK citizenship. Presumably, that would be in preparation for a second EU referendum he would win with help from these continental Europeans. Hope he let's the Red Wall know
 
Interesting that SNP Leader Hamza Yousaf's hate laws protect men, biological or dress wearing, but make no mention of misogeny. Could it be that Yousaf, who is Pakistani by lineage where women feature in importance after a good donkey, isn't much interested in protecting women?

It's also interesting that the law was passed through Holyrood in April 2021 when Nicola Sturgeon was SNP leader not Yousaf - pretty sure she's a woman, though I wouldn't touch her with yours!

But who was her Justice Secretary introducing the hurty word legislation and pushing it through?

I wouldn't touch Sturgeon with mine either!

Need to wait for the result of the investigation. The attack on the convey seems targetted, but there's a question whether it was by one rogue Israeli operator or was a policy decision by the Israeli military.

The Israeli investigation, which will of course be scrupulous and transparent.

You know what my point was, though. At what point do Israeli actions in Gaza become beyond the pale? For me it was a long time ago, when it became clear that they were conducting war crimes in terms of collective punishment of civilians. Perhaps now they're killing British military veterans trying to deliver aid, more in this country will say 'enough's enough'.

Israel has the world looking on, including the US, so any whitewash would be rejected. I understand where you're coming from, but for me, this investigation is crucial. If the Israel military is deliberately targetting aid workers, that is more than unacceptable, it would bring down the Netanyahu government. If it was a genuine mistake - they happen in war. If deliberate by a rogue operator, there will be greater scrutiny on the Israeli military.

The world is looking on from afar, but Israel won't let foreign journalists into Gaza, so no one really knows what's going on on the ground.

I'm not sure the killing of the aid workers needs journalists in Gaza on to it. More like independent forensic investigators if there is any dispute as to the cause of the explosions. If done by airstrike, there must be an explanation from the Israeli government and sanctions on the pilot of the attacking aeroplane. Of course, attacks on other aid convoys should also be included in any independent assessment which would go to Israeli military policy.
