Do you think it will work as a deterrent to people getting on small boats? That’s what it’s being sold as. I thought new ‘draconian’ laws, giving Macron loads of dosh and asking him nicely to help, and the threat of Rwanda were meant to be the radical solutions to this particular problem.

Interesting to see where they get the staff from for this giant barge.

Obviously not but we have to be seen to be treating them like prisoners to reassure Brian in his 98% White British town in the arse end of nowhere that migrants aren’t coming for his house/job/wife.

There’ll be a nice margin built in for a Tory donor, naturally, as there is for the hotels.

Didn’t realise that was the narrative to the plan….if so seems a load of bollox and can’t see it being a deterrent in any way.

I stayed on a very nice floating ship in Stockholm…..I didn’t feel like a prisoner.

Ukrainian refugees been staying on docked cruise ships in Glasgow and Edinburgh for the last year, so not really a new solution.

Maybe they're planning on using these ships as their time is up soon...

Ukrainian refugees have been living on board the MS Ambition since September

Fewer than 50 Ukrainian refugees remain on a ship in Glasgow that has housed 1,200 over the last six months.

The MS Ambition, which is docked near the Breahead shopping centre, is set to leave the city at the end of next week.

Turns down the ship proposal was a non-starter anyway. It's almost as if they just throw these things out there to distract attention.

After 13 years ****ing up the country, all they have to talk about is asylum-seekers and trans people.

Do you honestly think Labour will be any better ? They’ve adopted more Tory values than I’ve had needles in my prostate

Labour under Starmer won't be anything like as radical as I would like, but I absolutely believe that they'll be better than this Tory ****show.

Only time will tell I guess…..however I just can’t stop feeling let down by Starmer and his cronies with their witch-hunt to purge anyone from the party who are in anyway socialist.

Like Corbyn, eh ?

It’s not a great purge if only one out of dozens get purged.

I like Corbyn. I wish we had a voting system that gave genuine left-wingers like him a voice but he got comprehensively rejected by the electorate and will forever be tarnished by anti-semitism, rightly or wrongly (personally I’d say wrongly). I’d rather Starmer built bridges with him but can understand not doing so and it’s just inaccurate to say socialists are being purged.

Seems pretty accurate to me and many others….

Do you think all those purged were anti-semites or criminals then ? Even the Jewish ones ?

Most of those suspended for suspected anti-semitism were suspended rather than expelled so I’d like to know how many were brought back in but of a membership of hundreds of thousands I’d be amazed if there weren’t a few hundred anti-semites.
