Ask him if he’s heard of Autumn Falls…if he looks sheepish then he’s definitely got a smartphone on the sly
Well I have...and he has too...just asked him
We also have endless computers in the house ..he was an IT software consultant ....he still has only got a Nokia something or other, that he has had since I do not know when....and he never answers it when it rings...because it is always BT telling us our inrternet is broken or Amazon telling us our Amazon Prime, which we don't have, is running out

For those who genuinely can't afford a smart phone, (you can pick up a new Nokia for £100) then the govt should supply one as part of the benefits package. Prices are tumbling and the govt could get a good block deal.
get yourself down to tescos
(other supermarkets exist and there will be cheaper smartphones out there)

good for you
with more customers like you he wont be a starving artist living in an attic garrett for long
He is an epilepsy specialist nurse who is a good artist and a musician in his spare time...but has a dog with a serious vets bill ....and that pushed him over the edge.

DIGITAL ID - UK citizens will store their financial data on a single ‘super app’ like the NHS health app, recording each citizen’s economic footprint, including credit ratings. Ushering in a surveillance State system with complete control over citizens. With no mandate

Kier Starmer on the wireless talking almost literal bollocks about Labour’s ‘missions’. A party leadership lost in rather old fashioned management consultancy voodoo vocabulary ….’columns’ supporting ‘visions’, the need for new ‘structures’, ‘indicators’, ‘statements of value and principle’ ‘fundamentals’…..****ing hell, we’re doomed.

As the increasingly excellent Amol Rajan pointed out some of Starmer’s document published today is an insult to clear English.

No, I'm already retired and we're looking after Mrs Rangercol's mum following a stroke.
Obviously means waiting another year for the dosh.

Ah ok mate…….I know it’s gonna affect someone at sometime…..us being some of them. But seems a tad unfair that when you’ve planned things for a while and saved for retirement and planned well…..the government can just come around and kick you in the bollox.
But as I said before…they probably are just hoping we will die before we can take it.

Families find it an invaluable tool to communicate and stay in touch, Cologne. Of course, there are incidents of abuse like bullying between school kids and this must be addressed.
I think if you observe passengers on a long train journey you'll be amazed at how many of them spend all their time engrossed in their smart phones, oblivious to the World around them. They would be far better off relearning the lost art of conversation. Smart phones can play a role in staying in touch with people (although I can do that perfectly well on my laptop) but they are no substitute for the real thing. Unfortunately they have also helped to breed a generation of people who are incapable of getting real English sentences together. I'm not a Luddite Goldie - I don't want to throw away all technology, but i want to preserve the human element of having a choice. Unfortunately if it comes to the point of non smartphone users being increasingly marginalized (warn apps during corona, booking of travel, digital IT, etc. etc) then the element of choice is no longer there and the gadgets are ruling us rather than the other way around. It's now come to the point where I am compelled to hand in my tax declarations online whether I want to or not. .

Has anything actually been announced on this? Surely it would only affect people under a certain age?

Was just an article I read from the select committee and that the government seem set on keeping the triple lock but at the same time increasing the pension age from 2035 to 68. Would effect those youngsters like me at 53 years young.
